이한세 박사, 한호친선협회 제6대 회장 취임
한호 친선협회가 1월 15일 신년 하례식을 열고 제6대 회장으로 이한세 스파이어리서치앤컨설팅 대표이사(생명공학 박사)를 선출했다. 신임 회장의 임기는 2년으로, 한·호 양국의 민간 외교와 산업 협력을 이끌 중책을 맡게 됐다.
이날 행사에는 제프리 로빈슨 주한 호주대사와 마틴 워커 부대사가 함께 참석해 자리를 빛냈으며, 한호 관계자 및 각계 인사들이 대거 참여해 새로운 출발을 축하했다. 신년 하례식은 단순한 인사 자리를 넘어, 한·호 협력의 미래 비전을 공유하는 의미 있는 교류의 장으로 마련됐다.
제6대 회장으로 취임한 이한세 박사는 고려대학교 출신으로, 호주 서호주 퍼스(Perth)에 위치한 서호주대학교(UWA)에서 박사과정을 이수한 글로벌 인재다. 학문적 성과뿐 아니라 실무 경험에서도 두각을 나타낸 그는 주호주 한국대사관 무역투자대표부 산하 오스트레이드(Austrade) 활동을 통해 양국 간 산업·무역 협력의 최전선에서 활약해 왔다.
현재 이한세 회장은 스파이어리서치앤컨설팅을 이끌며 희토류, 자동차 산업, 해산물 산업 등 전략적 가치가 높은 분야에서 다수의 한·호 프로젝트를 수행하고 있다. 특히 자원·기술·산업을 잇는 실질적 협력 모델을 구축해 왔다는 점에서, 한호 친선협회의 역할을 한 단계 도약시킬 적임자로 평가받고 있다.
이한세 회장은 취임을 통해 “한호 친선협회가 단순한 친목 단체를 넘어, 실질적인 경제·기술·문화 협력의 플랫폼으로 성장하길 바란다”며 “민간 외교의 힘으로 양국이 함께 성장할 수 있는 기회를 만들어가겠다”는 포부를 밝혔다.
한호 친선협회는 그동안 문화·경제·외교 전반에서 양국 간 가교 역할을 수행해 왔으며, 이번 제6대 회장 취임을 계기로 보다 전략적이고 미래지향적인 협력 활동을 펼칠 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.
2026년을 향한 새로운 출발선에서, 한·호 협력의 다음 장이 조용하지만 힘 있게 열리고 있다.

한국·호주 친선협회 (KAFS), 광화문 런치미팅으로 새로운 출범!
2025년 9월 26일, 한국·호주 친선협회 회장단 모임이 광화문 ‘나무향기’에서 런치 미팅과 함께 새로운 출범식을 가졌습니다. 이번 모임은 한국 정부 국비 장학생으로 호주에서 박사 과정을 마친 인재들이 중심이 되어, 뉴 콜롬보 프로그램을 계기로 발족된 한호친선협회가 본격적인 활동을 알리는 자리였습니다. 김정한 회장님, 문건주 고문님, 안동만 고문님, 이한세 박사님, 김종회 교수님, 황은하 대표님, 줄리황 이사님이 함께했고, 호주 대사관 및 서호주 정부를 대표해 이지현 상무관이 참석하여 의미를 더했습니다. 앞으로 한국과 호주 양국 간의 문화·학술·경제적 교류를 확장하고, 미래 지향적인 협력의 장을 만들어가기를 기대합니다.

You are invited to an exclusive 'Fireside Chat' luncheon with Mr Jeff Robinson, Australian Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Korea, hosted by AustCham Chair, Mr Ross Gregory, at the Conrad Hotel Seoul on March 7th.

Mr Robinson is a highly experienced senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has worked extensively across a wide range of North Asia and international security, strategic policy and other matters. He has previously served overseas in Japan and the United States, and he is now in the Republic of Korea for the third time.

His inaugural overseas assignment was in Seoul from 1988-1992, followed by a tenure as Deputy Head of Mission from 2007-2011. His experience in Korea dates back to his university years in the early 1980s.

The fireside chat will offer an unparalleled insight into Mr Robinson's perspectives on the evolving Australia-Korea relationship, highlighting the characteristics of this dynamic partnership.

The Austrade Seoul team has welcomed Dane Richmond to Korea as Trade and Investment Commissioner.

Dane is overseeing the Resources and Energy, Infrastructure, Financial Services and Agri-food sectors. While Julie Quinn continues to oversee Health and Biotech, Defence and Space, Education, Critical Technologies, as well as our Mongolia post.

​

Dane has spent the past year in Canberra working in Austrade’s Asia Investment team. This follows a 5-year posting to Shanghai including during what Dane calls the ‘interesting years’ of COVID.

​

Trade Commissioners Ron Green and Helen Oh concluded their postings to Seoul and returned to Australia. Austrade looks forward to a busy and productive 2024 supporting Australian exporters and Korean investors into Australia.

The Australian Embassy Seoul welcomed Australian Ambassador-designate Jeff Robinson to Korea.

Jeff is a highly experienced senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has worked extensively across a wide range of North Asia (including China) and international security, strategic policy and other matters.

He has previously served overseas in Japan and the United States, as well as now for a third time in the Republic of Korea.

His first overseas posting was to Seoul, from 1988-1992, and then again from 2007-2011, as Deputy Head of Mission. Even before that, he visited Korea first as a university student in the early 1980s.

Jeff said he was very pleased and honoured to have this opportunity to return to Seoul as Ambassador. He added that he very much looked forward to meeting and working in close partnership with AustCham and its members.

Ahead of her departure this week, Ambassador R***r did one last media interview with Dong-a Ilbo. Ambassador R***r reiterated that 🇦🇺🇰🇷’s prosperity, security and stability are more intertwined than ever, and that our two countries will benefit from the secure region we build together, the stability we preserve together, the sovereignty we respect together and the energy transition we drive together.
Ambassador R***r said: “It was an honour to have contributed to the 🇦🇺🇰🇷 relationship as we marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and elevated the partnership to a in 2021 and then implemented that partnership. 🇰🇷’s release of its first has also been a highlight. I hope 🇰🇷 remembers that 🇦🇺 is the partner of choice for KR in the Indo-Pacific. 🇦🇺🇰🇷 are the northern and southern lynchpins of an Indo-Pacific order.”
