2025 ASEAN Local Exploration Special Feature Series | Vibrant Stories of ASEAN region: Through Cities, Music, and Gastronomy

In 2025, the ASEAN-Korea Centre, in collaboration with the Institute for East Asian Studies at Sogang University, presented a special feature series showcasing the diverse cities, music, and gastronomy of ASEAN.

Following the series’ popularity, we are excited to announce that English translations has been updated weekly (5 articles per week: 3 on Cities, 1 on Music, and 1 on Gastronomy). We invite you to dive into the vibrant urban cultures and traditions of Southeast Asia!

📢 On May 28 (Thu), the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Asia Business Daily at the ASEAN-Korea Connecting Lounge (8th floor, Press Center) of the AKC to cooperate on the Global Digital Asset Forum.

✏️Based on this MoU, the AKC will actively utilize its existing ASEAN-Korea cooperation network to contribute to the Global Digital Asset Forum (tentative), which the Asia Business Daily Economy is planning for next year! Please stay tuned for the future programs✨

This June, ASEAN Panorama introduces a variety of products and industries from Cambodia and Malaysia!

At the Cambodia exhibition zone, visitors can explore F&B products rooted in the country’s natural environment and agri-food industry, including cashew nuts, honey, dried fruits, palm sugar, pepper, and noodle products🍯🥭

At the Malaysia exhibition zone, visitors can discover a variety of food products such as snacks, tea, and coffee, along with halal household products, wellness items, activewear, and other consumer and lifestyle products for everyday use🍫☕🧼

📢 한-아세안센터(AKC)와 한국수입협회(KOIMA)는 2026년 5월 20일(수) 베트남 호치민에서 ‘한-아세안 무역 활성화 미션‘을 성공적으로 개최했습니다! 이번 행사는 호치민시 무역투자진흥센터(ITPC)와 주한 베트남 대사관과 협력하여 진행되었으며, 양국의 정부 관계자 및 기업인 150여 명이 넘는 참가자가 무역 및 투자 기회를 모색했습니다.

📢 The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) and Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) successfully co-hosted the ASEAN-Korea Trade Facilitation Mission in Ho Chi Minh City on 20 May (Wed), 2026! In cooperation with Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) and the Embassy of Viet Nam in Korea, the Mission brought together over 150 government officials and private companies from both countries to explore trade and investment opportunities.

✔️ Industrial visits to Binh Tay Food Joint Stock Company (est. 1960) and Hana Nguyen Technology (est. 2018) gaining insights into the F&B projects in Viet Nam.
✔️ Presentations on the current Viet Nam-Korea trade trends, and market entry strategies.
✔️ 1:1 business meetings, fostering new business opportunities between Vietnamese and Korean firms.

📢 The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) and Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) successfully co-hosted the ASEAN-Korea Trade Facilitation Mission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 18 (Mon) – 19 (Tue) May 2026! In cooperation with Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the Embassy of Malaysia in Korea, the Mission brought together over 70 government officials and private companies from both countries to explore trade and investment opportunities.

• Presentations on the current state of Malaysia-Korea trade trends, and market entry strategies.

📢 2026 제1차 한-아세안 정책 라운드테이블

한-아세안센터는 "2026 한-아세안 정책 라운드테이블"의 첫 번째 세션을 고려대학교 아세안센터와 함께 한-아세안센터의 한-아세안 라운지에서 5월 15일(금) 개최했습니다. 이번 행사는 “경제안보와 공급망 재편: 해양 자원경제 국가(인도네시아)와 대륙 제조 허브(베트남)를 연결하는 역내 공급망 안정화 방안”을 주제로 진행되었습니다.

이충열 고려대학교 명예교수가 발표를 맡았으며, 하대국 외교부 아세안국 아세안협력과장이 토론자로 참여하였습니다. 또한 부산외국어대학교 아세안연구원, 서울대학교 동남아시아센터, 전북대학교 동남아연구소, 외교부 아세안국 및 한-아세안센터 관계자 등 총 50명이 참석하여 경제안보와 공급망 안정화에 대한 다양한 의견을 공유하였습니다.

📢 2026 1st ASEAN-Korea Policy Roundtable

The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) organized the first session of the “2026 ASEAN-Korea Policy Roundtable” in collaboration with the ASEAN Center of Korea University on 15 May (Fri) at the ASEAN-Korea Connecting Lounge of the AKC. The session was held under the theme of “Economic Security and Supply Chain Restructuring: Strategies for Stabilizing Regional Supply Chains Connecting Maritime Resource Economies (Indonesia) and Continental Manufacturing Hubs (Viet Nam).”

Prof. Lee Chung-lyol, Emeritus Professor of Korea University, delivered the presentation, while Mr. Ha Dae-goog, Director of the ASEAN Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MOFA), participated as a discussant. A total of 50 participants from the Korea Institute for ASEAN Studies of Busan University of Foreign Studies, Seoul National University Southeast Asia Center, Jeonbuk National University Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, ASEAN Cooperation Division of the MOFA, and the AKC, attended the session and exchanged views on economic security and supply chain stability.

Jointly organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre, ASEAN-China Centre, and the ASEAN-Japan Centre, the Retreat will be held in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, from 1(Tue) – 4(Fri) September 2026.
The program will bring together ASEAN students in Korea, Korean youth, and youth nominated from China and Japan for meaningful discussions, cultural exchanges, and collaborative activities aimed at strengthening understanding and cooperation under the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) framework!
