A magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred approximately 65 miles west-northwest of Mantua, Cuba, at around 7:44 p.m. local time.
There is currently no threat to the Cayman Islands. Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) and the Department of Public Safety Communications (DPSC) continue to monitor the situation and will advise the public should any action be required.
No action is required at this time. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and stay informed through official sources.

As of 11:15 AM, a Flood Advisory is in effect for Grand Cayman as a tropical wave is expected to move near the Cayman Islands today, 9 June 2026.
Due to recent rainy conditions, some areas across Grand Cayman may already be saturated. An additional 1 – 1.5 inches of rainfall is anticipated this afternoon into tomorrow. Heavy showers are expected along with possible thunder. ⛈️
Impacts: Flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.
Safety Precautions:
• Drive with caution, especially during heavy rainfall.
• Slow down in areas with standing water.
• Allow extra travel time and expect minor delays.
• Monitor conditions as impacts may worsen quickly.

Government Pledges Over a Million Dollars in Relief Aid to Jamaica
Premier of the Cayman Islands, Honourable André Ebanks, yesterday announced an initial donation of USD $200,000 worth of supplies to Jamaica and a pledge of an additional USD $1.2 million in relief aid following Hurricane Melissa.
The announcement was made at a press briefing in Kingston, Jamaica, hosted by the Jamaican Government. The first relief charter flight departed Cayman yesterday morning, carrying essential supplies and support to affected communities.
This marks the beginning of the Cayman Islands Government’s sustained response to help Jamaica recover from the storm’s impact, demonstrating solidarity and compassion with the Jamaican people during this difficult time.
