Cheeseburger Reef, Grand Cayman

This is one of favorite images of an iconic Cayman experience! The silversides come to town once a year; I took this photo last year at Cheeseburger Reef. Silversides are tiny silver fish that huddle in dark spaces, in this case, a cave. They move in a coordinated ballet in an attempt to avoid the large tarpon and jacks that hunt them. I used a slow shutter speed for two reasons: to show the movement of the silversides, and to absorb a lot of light to show the interior of the dark cave. That's a tarpon hunting in the center, and if you follow it straight down, you can see the shape of two jacks.
