𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐭. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐩. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧. Participants who had been hesitant to take the stage were suddenly giving it a go. Others were jumping in with ideas, challenging a point or giving it another try.
That was the room yesterday in Amman, as colleagues from across the RDPP partnership in Jordan pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones.
The RDPP workshop focused on strengthening storytelling through public speaking and AI, with an ambition to bring the strongest stories from RDPP partners’ work with Syrian refugees and host communities to wider audiences.
So, what did we actually do?
𝐖𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞. Partners worked on finding the strongest stories within their work, sharpening the message and bringing those stories to life for wider audiences.
𝐖𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. Who are we speaking to? What do they care about? Add what do we want them to remember, feel or do?
𝐖𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭. We discussed the opportunities and pitfalls of AI, and demonstrated journalistic tools for finding the human in the story.
Expect to hear and read more stories from RDPP partners across Jordan in the months ahead. Stories that bring the work to life, show what it means for Syrian refugees and host communities, and help give the programme the wider visibility its work deserves.
