As part of the EU-funded Local Development Programme along the Litani River Basin (LRB), implemented by the Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD), impactful support has reached dozens of local cooperatives.

Through a specialized component, Funded by the EU and contracted by the ESFD to Landell Mills and the American University of Beirut (AUB), cooperatives have benefited from:

These efforts aim to strengthen livelihoods, enhance sustainability, and promote resilient agricultural practices in communities across the LRB.

ورشة عمل في اتحاد بلديات البحيرة البقاعية، موجّهة لمزارعي الخس، ضمن إطار برنامج معالجة التلوث الزراعي في حوض نهر الليطاني المموّل من الإتحاد الأوروبي.
تهدف الورشة إلى تعريف المزارعين بالآليات والخدمات المتاحة لمكافحة التلوّث الزراعي في حوض نهر الليطاني، وخاصّة في الإتحادات والبلديات التالية: شرق زحلة، زحلة، مدينة زحلة- المعلقة وتعنايل، البحيرة، السهل والبقاع الأوسط. وفي هذا الإطار، قام فريق عمل صندوق التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية بزيارة ميدانيّة لتفقّد المساحة التجريبيّة، والتي تعتبر نموذجاً مبتكراً لزراعة الخس في منطقة البقاع.
تأتي هذه ورشة العمل هذه ضمن سلسلة من ورش العمل التي ينفّذها صندوق التنمية الإقتصادية والإجتماعية والمموّلة من الإتحاد الأوروبي، وذلك ضمن إطار "برنامج التنمية المحلية على امتداد حوض نهر الليطاني- LRB".

The Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD) organized a training workshop for lettuce farmers in the Union of Municipalities of Al Bouhaira- Bekaa, within the framework of the EU-funded program to address agricultural pollution along the Litani River Basin.
The workshop aims to introduce lettuce farmers to the available mechanisms and services for addressing agricultural pollution in the Litani River Basin, specifically in the Unions and Municipalities of: East Zahle, Zahle Al Maalaka, Taanayel, Al Bouhaira and Central Bekaa. In this context, the demonstration plot was inspected by the ESFD team, which serves as an innovative model for lettuce farming in the Bekaa region.
This workshop is part of a series of workshops implemented by the Economic and Social Fund for Development- ESFD and funded by the European Union, under the "Local Development Program along the Litani River Basin - LRB."

مشروع "تعزيز أنظمة النقل العام الصديقة للبيئة " في نطاق مدينة زحلة_المعلقة وتعنايل

The European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Mrs. Sandra De Waele, launched the "Promoting Environment-Friendly Public Transport" project in Zahle-Al-Muallaqa and Taanayel. The EU-funded action, totalling EUR 1,2 million, was implemented by the Economic and Social Fund for Development. It includes providing Zahle Municipality with four hybrid buses and technical support for operation and management.
The detailed bus routes, stations, operational processes, maintenance, and development plans, are under the careful supervision of Zahle Municipality.

أطلقت سفيرة الاتحاد الأوروبي في لبنان السيدة ساندرا دو وال مشروع "تعزيز أنظمة النقل العام الصديقة للبيئة" في نطاق مدينة زحلة – المعلّقة وتعنايل، المموّل من الاتحاد الأوروبي بقيمة /1،200،000€/ مليون ومائتان ألف يورو، والمنفّذ من قبل صندوق التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والذي يتضمّن تزويد بلديّة زحلة بأربعة باصات هجينة، إضافة إلى تقديم دعم تقني للبلدية في عملية التشغيل من خلال إعداد خطة الإدارة المالية للمشروع.
يجدر الذكر، أن مسار الباصات والمحطات وعملية التشغيل والصيانة والخطط المستقبلية للتطوير وضمانة الاستدامة تتولاه بلدية زحلة بجديّة مطلقة.

Zahle Municipality-بلدية زحلة معلقة وتعنايل

انجز صندوق التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية جميع الاشغال العائدة لمشروع تركيب انظمة الطاقة الشمسية لثلاث مضخات في محطة نبع شمسين بقدرة 250 kwp، 250 kwp، و200 kwp ، وتغذي هذه المضخات بلدات شرقي زحلة وجزء من بلدات البقاع الاوسط والبقاع الغربي، وتعتبر من اكبر مصادر المياه لبلدات البقاع، وكانت هذه الاعمال قد بدأت في بداية 2022. ولهذه الغاية، قام فريق من الصندوق بتنظيم زيارة ميدانيّة لتسليم محطة الطاقة الشمسية الجديدة الى مؤسسة مياه البقاع التي ستقوم بالتشغيل والصيانة، بحضور ممثلين عن مؤسسة مياه البقاع والمفوضيّة الأوروبية في بيروت.
تندرج هذه المشاريع ضمن سلسلة المشاريع التنموية التي ينفذها الصندوق ضمن إطار "برنامج التنمية المحلية على إمتداد حوض نهر الليطاني" الممول من الاتحاد الاوروبي. وسوف تساهم هذه المشاريع في توفير كلفة إنتاج الطاقة لتشغيل المنشآت.

The ESFD completed all the work related to the project of installing solar-powered systems for three pumps at the Chamsine Spring station with a capacity of 250 kwp, 250 kwp, and 200 kwp, where implementation work began at the beginning of 2022. These pumps feed the communities of East of Zahle and part of the Central Bekaa and the West Bekaa communities by potable water. The Chamsine Spring is considered one of the largest water sources for the Bekaa Valley villages.
In this regard, the ESFD team has organized a field visit to hand over the new solar-powered station to the Bekaa Water Establishment, which will operate and maintain it, in the presence of representatives of the Bekaa Water Establishment and the European Commission in Beirut, ,
These projects fall under a series of development projects that are being implemented by the ESFD within the framework of the EU-funded "Local Development Programme along the Litani River Basin- LRB", aiming at reducing the operation cost of water facilities.
