This morning, we had the pleasure of a private guided tour of the Nuhad Es-Said Pavilion at the National Museum of Beirut with my long-time friend Adeline Souhaid, accompanied by Liis Rosenfeldt (Deputy Head, Embassy of Estonia in Cairo), ahead of our meeting at the French Consulate. A meaningful day of culture and cooperation.

Exciting news from our diplomatic outreach in the region! 🇪🇪🇱🇧 Deputy Head of the Embassy of Estonia in Cairo, Consul Liis Rosenfeldt, visited the Honorary Consulate of Estonia in Lebanon. She issued the D-visa for Estonia to our first Lebanese student, a Political Science major at LAU, who will study at Tallinn University for a semester under the Erasmus+ programme this January. She also conducted on-site fingerprinting for Estonian residents in Lebanon seeking passport renewals. A strong example of EU-Lebanon cooperation and educational mobility in action!

Insightful meeting with Smart ESA
This afternoon, I had the privilege of meeting with Karl Gedda, Director of Smart ESA, and Francesco Bakhos Project Manager, while personally representing the Honorary Consulate of Estonia in Lebanon. During our discussion, I had the opportunity to present several key initiatives that could benefit Smart ESA, including:
- E-residency: An innovative program allowing entrepreneurs worldwide to establish and manage a business in Estonia.
- Startup Visa : An initiative that facilitates access for foreign entrepreneurs to the Estonian market.
- E-governance : A system that promotes transparency and efficiency in public administration.
- Cybersecurity : Advanced solutions to protect businesses and sensitive data.
We also explored the possibility of establishing a partnership with Estonia to support our local startups. I am convinced that this collaboration could open new avenues and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
I would like to thank Karl and Francesco for their time and valuable insights. I look forward to continuing this conversation and exploring the opportunities ahead!
