Public Service Announcement
Temporary Closure of Bois Cachet Road – Lower Morne Road, Castries

The Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport (DIPT) advises residents and motorists that Bois Cachet Road at Lower Morne Road, Castries, will be temporarily closed from Monday, December 8, 2025.

- The closure will remain in effect for approximately three months.

- Access will be restricted to residents of the immediate area; the general motoring public will not be permitted.

This closure is necessary to facilitate the reconstruction of a collapsed retaining wall, which was causing limited and risky access to the motoring public. The works, undertaken by C.E.O. Company Inc., will include:

- Construction of a 30-meter reinforced concrete wall

- Installation of drainage systems to stabilize and rehabilitate the affected section

During the construction period, residents with access are urged to:

- Drive cautiously through the work zone

- Follow all traffic management signs, instructions, and safety measures

The DIPT regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for its patience and cooperation. These works are part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening national infrastructure and ensuring safer, more resilient roads for all.

Celebrating International Men’s Day at the Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport

On November 19, the Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport marked International Men’s Day with a heartfelt celebration honouring its male employees. The occasion went beyond a simple gesture of appreciation—while a thoughtfully prepared lunch was provided, the Department also transformed its conference room into a tranquil massage space, offering wellness treatments to any male staff member who wished to unwind.

This annual observance served as a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the vital roles men play within the Department and the broader society. It highlighted the dedication, leadership, and positive contributions of male employees, acknowledging them not only as professionals but also as fathers, partners, mentors, and community builders.

The Department used the day to promote awareness around men’s mental and physical health, encouraging open conversations and self-care. It also celebrated the values of integrity, responsibility, and resilience that male staff bring to their work and relationships.

Many employees expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, with several noting that the experience left them feeling rejuvenated and uplifted—“like a new man,” as one put it. The event underscored the Department’s commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive workplace where every individual feels seen, valued, and empowered.
