Government of Taiwan Supports Saint Lucia Through Digital Capacity Building Initiative.
The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international partnerships through its recent support of the Government of Saint Lucia under the Digital Capacity Building Project.
This initiative has provided valuable opportunities for public officers to expand their knowledge and strengthen their technical capabilities in key areas of digital governance and information security. Participants in the programme included Darcel Joseph, Janelle Biscette-Rameau, and Kentus Eugene, who each benefited from targeted training and professional development.
As part of the project, officers participated in study visits to Taiwan, where they were exposed to innovative practices, advanced technologies, and globally recognized standards in digital development. These experiences have enhanced their ability to contribute meaningfully to Saint Lucia’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.
A key component of the initiative was the facilitation and coordination of training and certification in ISO/IEC 27001, an internationally recognized standard for establishing and maintaining an Information Security Management System (ISMS). Through this certification, participating officers have gained critical competencies in managing and safeguarding information assets.
This investment in capacity building not only strengthens the professional development of public officers but also enhances the Government of Saint Lucia’s ability to protect sensitive information and build a resilient digital infrastructure.
The Government of Saint Lucia expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for its continued partnership and support in advancing national development priorities.

On Friday, March 6, the Ministry of the Public Service, Transport, Information and Utilities Regulations hosted a Staff Retreat at Sandals Grande St. Lucia. The retreat provided an opportunity for staff to step away from the traditional work environment to reconnect, refocus, and recharge while strengthening team bonds through relaxation, laughter, and engaging activities.
During the retreat, the Honourable Stephenson King, Minister for the Public Service, addressed staff and emphasized the importance of productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness in public service delivery. The Minister acknowledged that leadership also has a critical role to play in identifying and addressing challenges that may affect staff performance and overall output.
The retreat also featured engaging presentations from Betty Combie and Constance-Ann Paul-Akuffs, who helped set a positive tone and energized participants throughout the day.
The initiative formed part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive and motivated workforce capable of delivering high-quality service to the people of Saint Lucia.

The Ministry of the Public Service wishes to inform the general public that due to the ongoing water crisis experienced over the past few days, our offices located on the 2nd Floor of the Greaham Louisy Administrative Building will be closed today, 12 January 2026.
The lack of flowing water has created significant challenges within the working environment, making it necessary to suspend in-office operations for the day.
We sincerely apologize to the public for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause. Please be assured that we are actively seeking solutions to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.
In the interim, members of staff have been instructed to work remotely as we continue our utmost efforts to serve the public efficiently.

The Division of Transport and RSLPF Launched a Positive Road Safety Initiative
The Division of Transport, under the Department of the Public Service, in collaboration with the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, launched a road safety initiative on Friday, January 16th. The activity was aimed at promoting and rewarding responsible road use among motorists and pedestrians. Unlike traditional road safety campaigns that focus primarily on enforcement and penalties, the initiative adopted a different approach—one centered on encouragement and recognition. Officers observed and rewarded drivers and pedestrians who demonstrated lawful road practices. Participants were recognized for behaviors such as obeying traffic laws, having all required documents in order, wearing seat belts, using indicators correctly, exercising courtesy on the roads, and utilizing pedestrian crossings appropriately. Drivers and pedestrians who met the necessary requirements were rewarded with $50 vouchers, compliments of Massy Stores. Transport Officer Natalie Biroo emphasized the importance of shared responsibility in road safety.
“This initiative highlights the fact that road safety is everyone’s responsibility, by recognizing positive behavior, we hope to inspire more motorists and pedestrians to make safe and responsible choices every day.”
The activity was conducted along corridors from Castries to the northern part of the island. The initiative was met with positive feedback and strong public support. The Division of Transport has indicated that it will extend this initiative to the southern part of the island in the not-too-distant future. The campaign was held under the theme “Drive to Arrive Alive!”, reinforcing the message that safe road practices save lives.
