Saint Lucia to Celebrate International Day for Persons with Disabilities 2025
Saint Lucia will join the global community in observing the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, with an official national event at the Vieux Fort Square from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This year’s global theme, “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress,” is complemented by Saint Lucia’s national sub-theme: “Building an Inclusive Saint Lucia Together.”
An Organizing Committee, spearheaded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Crime Prevention and Persons with Disabilities, has been meeting to finalize activities and related initiatives in commemoration of this year’s observance.
The Committee’s focus is on promoting visibility, empowerment, and inclusive participation for Persons with Disabilities across all sectors of society. The 2025 celebration aims to provide a dynamic platform for awareness, advocacy, and recognition of the contributions of persons with disabilities to national development.
The observance also reflects the Government of Saint Lucia’s commitment to building a more equitable and accessible society—one where every Saint Lucian, regardless of ability, is recognized, empowered, and included in the nation’s progress.
Through this celebration, the Ministry seeks not only to highlight inclusion but also to strengthen the institutional framework for disability affairs in Saint Lucia, paving the way for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
