♀️Join the Feminist Book Club to discuss “The Island of Missing Trees” by Elif Shafak

Book summary:
Two teenagers, a Greek Cypriot and a Turkish Cypriot, meet at a taverna on the island they both call home. In the taverna, hidden beneath garlands of garlic, chilli peppers and creeping honeysuckle, Kostas and Defne grow in their forbidden love for each other. A fig tree stretches through a cavity in the roof, and this tree bears witness to their hushed, happy meetings and eventually, to their silent, surreptitious departures. The tree is there when war breaks out, when the capital is reduced to ashes and rubble, and when the teenagers vanish. Decades later, Kostas returns. He is a botanist looking for native species, but really, he’s searching for lost love.

🎲To celebrate Tabletop Roleplay games, we ran 5 beginner friendly role play games introducing new and experienced players to various game systems such as Dungeons & Dragons🐉, Dread, Roll for Shoes and Call of Cthulhu.

We hope to encourage people to start playing TTRPGs and to gain confidence to run their own games. We also gave away a free one-page one-shot so anyone who wanted to try could run their own game for their friends!

Book summary:

Shattered Lands, for the first time, presents the whole story of how the Indian Empire was unmade. How a single, sprawling dominion became twelve modern nations. How maps were redrawn in boardrooms and on battlefields, by politicians in London and revolutionaries in Delhi, by kings in remote palaces and soldiers in trenches.
