මරණයෙන් පසු අවයව පරිත්‍යාග කරන්නෙකු වීමට වයස් සීමාවක් තිබේද?

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ දැනට පවතින නීතියට අනුව, මරණයෙන් පසු ඔබේ අවයව පරිත්‍යාග කිරීමට ඔබට අවම වශයෙන් වයස අවුරුදු 21 ක් විය යුතුය. කෙසේ වෙතත් සුදුසු නීති සම්මත වුවහොත් තවත් පරිත්‍යාගශීලීන් ඇතුළත් කිරීම සඳහා මෙම වයස අනාගතයේදී වෙනස් විය හැකිය.

ඉහළ වයස් සීමාවක් නැත. වයසට යන විට අපේ අභ්‍යන්තර අවයව සියල්ලම දුර්වල වේ. එම නිසා, දුර්වල අවයව බද්ධ කළහොත්, අවයව ලබාගන්නා පුද්ගලයාට එමගින් ලැබෙන සුවය අවම වේ. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් අවයව පරිත්‍යාග කිරීම සඳහා වයස අවුරුදු 75 ට වැඩි අය එතරම් සුදුසු නැත.

Is there an age limit to becoming an organ donor after death?

According to the Sri Lankan law, you have to be at least 21 years of age to donate your organs after death. However this age may change in future to include younger donors if appropriate legislation is passed.

There is no upper age limit. However when we get older, all of our internal organs get weaker. Therefore, if we transplant weaker organs, the benefit to the recipient is minimal. Generally, age above 75 years is not considered for organ donation.
