Silver fish have had its way with this book, but look how pretty they made their design! Like a butterfly or a bug! 😍😘🐞🦋
Technically, this is a book owners nightmare, but it's pretty too, don't you think? What cute things do you find inside books?

After Lal's workshop, I've decided I want to read more Sri Lankan authors. There is an incredible flavour in Sri Lankan literature, one that even I as a local writer don't appreciate enough. We need to read local and write locally. We don't have Daffodils or Roses (yes in N Eliya, but not in CMB) here, so referring to them is out. So in my quest to seek out Sinhala Writers, I found Prashani Rambukwella 's book Mythil's Secret.
It's a gorgeous book! A Sri Lankan story about a boy and a yaka but with a small psychological twist to it. I could feel myself walking in the woods with this child and it made it so much easier to relate and watch the story unravel.
I was recommended it by my mother so I'm recommending it here to all of you. Find the book, buy the book so you support local talent and share your findings with us

We're having a special author with us to talk about his latest book, God's Secret Agent. He is none other than Herman Gunaratne! His other work include 'Su***de Club', 'The Plantation Raj', and 'Tortured Island's and 'For a Sovereign State'.
I'm a fan of all things Sri Lankan occult. When I first heard about the book from another member of Book Swap, I got a hold of the book and couldn't keep it down! It was so strange for me to hear about cursed objects hidden above beds and burried in gardens and about paranormal possessions and sicknesses (All of it, true nonetheless!) It was an absolute thrill to read about the adventures Herman (the author) and Nissanka, a Buddhists born Catholic priest who uses the power of God to remove evil. Must read if you like to learn about the darker side of our sunny paradise. 🌦️
Do join us in conversation with Herman Gunaratne who is coming all the way from Galle! On October 6th Saturday from 4 to 6 pm.

Woots! We are almost ready for our 5th instalement of the Creators' Edition at the ! 😍
It's on Sep 2nd, 4 to 6pm. We already have about 7 writers and poets who want to share their work with us. But feel free to perform impromptu! (We love surprises!) 🎉
Writing tends to be a very personal form of art. Our aim is to create a safe and comfortable space for us to share AND listen to written things. So it's nice to hear when people who performed at the event recommend and say nice things about it ❤️
We'll also be having a book swap before the main event so you can still bring books to swap too. 😋

We like getting to know our swappers. We've had so many different crazy, quirky readers to pass through our doors that we decided to feature a few faces and stories.. After all, it's the swappers that fuel the spirit of swapping!
We have who regularly scores too many books than he can carry. And we have a first time swapper, whose name escapes me now (sorry!) who found a soul mate book after 7 years of searching!! 😱 @ Cyclalogy
