"Nonawathi Idiriyata"

Sri Sumangala National College was founded in 1864 with Mr.A.D Izhed Siriwardana as the 1st principal. This school was started with a very small amount of students as a mix school with only one building and named as Nildandahinna Royal School. Afterwards the school was divided into two parts with a separate school for girls with Mrs.Meegasdeniya as the 1st principal. As time passes the two girls and boys schools were reunited as one mix school and were named as Sri Sumangala School. As the school was in a rapid developing process it was named as a “Maha Vidyalaya” and in 1982 was named as a “Madya Maha Vidyalaya” and 1993 was raised to a National College which a historic milestone of this school. At present this school consists of approximately 3000 students in all grades and a well trained teaching staff led by the present principal Mr.Kapila Aththanayaka. Social Web-
