He granted most of our requests which appeared in the "Daily News" of 22.04.1993 and extended us substantial relief. We requested that suitable Malays be considered for nomination to Parliament Diplomatic Services, Boards and Corporations. The "SELAMAT" Rupavahini programme remains a permanent monthly feature. SLUMO is the only Malay Organization to make representations to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional Reforms.Youth Unrest Commission, etc.These matters have hitherto not thought of by other Malay Organizations. The only Malay Organization Incorporated by an Act of Parliament is the Sri Lanka United Malay Organization (SLUMO). This was moved in Parliament by Hon'ble Norman Waidyaratne the then Deputy Speaker and Late Mr G.V.S.de Silva, District Minister of Galle.
