July 24, 2021 REF: Solidarity Statement from the Joint Legislative Committee on Education and Public Administration (JLCEPA) to WAEC-Liberia & other Librians for their Tragedy..... -WEAC-Liberia, over the weekend of July 17, 2021; lost trace of eight (8) of it's Staff, with only one (1) discovery. - The incident occurred when a Vessel carrying the WEAC's Staff plus other Passengers on board, Cap-sided and Sunk into the Atlantic Ocean of the coast of the Republic of Liberia (RL). -NIKO IVANKA was on its way to Maryland County-Liberia, with more then Thirty (30) persons. - Up to date, Rescue Team has recovered only Twelve (12) persons, with the others still missing. -The Nine (9) WAEC 's Staff, were on their way to that Southeastern part of Liberia to administer the 2020/2021 Nationwide Exams to both Elementary, Junior, & Senior High School Students. - Meanwhile, the Joint Legislative Committee on Education & Public Administration (JLCEPA) under the leadership of Sen. Prince K. Moye Sr., and Rep. Mariamu B. Fofana of B**g & Lofa Counties respectively, and through it's Secretariat; would like to stand in DEEP SOLIDARITY with the Affected Families, WAEC-Liberia under the stewardship of Mr. Dele G. Gbotoe, the entire Education Sector, including the Liberian Public. -We are deeply hurt by this Tragedy, and we call on the Liberian Government in general to beef up support to WAEC-Liberia, as the Institution continue to provide Quality Testing and Evaluation to our many students.
