Bomi County Lawmaker Samuel Jallah Denies Signing Rep. Kolubah's Removal Resolution

Bomi County District 3 Representative Samuel P. Jallah has distanced himself from the resolution that recently removed Montserrado County District 10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah.

Speaking to a local journalist in Bomi County, Representative Jallah said he did not sign any document to remove Rep. Kolubah, despite his signature seemingly appearing among lawmakers backing the move.

Meanwhile, 49 members of the House of Representatives reportedly affixed their signatures to the resolution on April 17. That number meets the required two-thirds majority—49 out of 73 lawmakers—needed to expel a sitting lawmaker.

Rep. Jallah’s response has raised questions about the accuracy of the signatures, as attention now shifts to the House leadership for clarification.

CDC expels 6 lawmakers over Rep. Yekeh Kolubah's explusion

"The CDC further informs the public that all CDC lawmakers who allegedly took US$25,000 participated by signing a Resolution to illegally remove Hon. Kolubah are hereby expelled from the CDC with immediate effect. Those involved are as follows:

1. Julie Fatorma Wiah, District 2, Lofa
2. Momo Siafa Kpoto, District 3, Lofa
3. Alexander Poure, District 1, River Gee
4. Choloplay Isaac Wuo, Distrct 2, River Gee
5. Johnson S.N. Williams, District 3, River Gee
6. P. Mike Jury- District 1, Maryland

These lawmakers were instructed by the party not to participate in the Illegal removal of Speaker Jonathan Fonti Koffa, (they disobeyed the party) and now they have again participated in the illegal expulsion of their colleague, Hon. Yekeh Y. Kolubah. The party remains decisive in taking this disciplinary action against them."

 President Boakai Orders 10‑Day April Special Session for Urgent Cash Printing and Supplementary Budget Action

President Joseph N. Boakai has formally summoned the 55th Legislature to a Special Session running from April 9 to April 23, 2026, citing urgent national matters that cannot wait until the regular session resumes in May. In a communication to House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, the President invoked Article 32(b) of the Liberian Constitution, which empowers the Executive to convene lawmakers outside their normal schedule.

The recall follows the Legislature’s adjournment of its first quarter sitting on March 19. According to the President, several time‑sensitive proposals require immediate legislative action, including the printing of additional Liberian Dollar banknotes and the passage of the 2026 Supplementary Budget. The Executive also flagged other unspecified national priorities that demand prompt attention.

Boakai expressed confidence that lawmakers will honor the call in the interest of the country and move swiftly on the pending fiscal and monetary measures.

April 6 is remembered in Liberian history mainly because of the outbreak of heavy fighting in Monrovia on April 6, 1996, during the Liberian civil war. The violence began after tensions between forces loyal to Roosevelt Johnson and supporters of Charles Taylor turned into major armed clashes.
The fighting left thousands of people dead, displaced many families, and destroyed homes, businesses, schools, and hospitals across Monrovia. Many Liberians still remember the day as one of the darkest moments in the country's history because it brought fear, suffering, and trauma to many communities.
For many people, April 6 serves as a reminder that peace is better than war and that Liberia should never return to the violence of the civil conflict years.
