EPI Liberia

The Expanded Program on Immunization was established in Liberia in 1978 under the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare.

Its initial objective was to prevent children from six childhood diseases, the addition of new vaccines includes protection of older children, adolescents and adults from vaccine preventable diseases. EPI is mostly supported by GAVI, the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization, USAID and other non governmental institutions including UNICEF, WHO, Last Mile Health amongst others.
