Let’s shift. Happy Sunday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs- Republic of Liberia (MOFA) Minister of Foreign Affairs

Topic: Me discussing with AI.
Background: President Boakai gave MoFA the mandate in February to push the AI partnership with Ethiopia following PM Ahmed’s AU presentation on their digital transformation. Thanks to the entire MOFA team that made it happen in under 2 months. In Addis, we visited the Ethiopia AI Institute and the ICT Park.
Incident: We explored their AI, but I battled their AI receptionist in the glass case opposite me dressed up in their traditional attire. Unfortunately the lighting is clouding her face. I asked her for information regarding the bilateral relationship and she was on point. She even shared the historical ties. So after her good analysis, I refused to leave it o. I asked who is older? Ethiopia or Liberia? This is where she spoiled it o. She said Ethiopia is Africa’s oldest republic. I told her lie-lie. Liberia is Africa’s oldest republic. Ethiopia won the Battle of Adwa in 1896 against the Italians, and we declared our independence in 1847 to avoid colonization by the British.
Lesson: Yes we are older by age, but Ethiopia is now producing their own robots and drones and supplying other countries. We are encouraged to push and get our young people to Ethiopia to learn these skills and help our technological advancement.
Encouragement: With the mandate given by our President, we can do it!

Thanks to Presidents Boakai, Doumbouya, and Bio for standing for peace; and to President Boakai for contextual leadership in a subregion within which he is respected. We completed our ministerial meeting and Heads of State Summit all within 24 hours. Thanks to my colleagues the Foreign Ministers of Guinea, and Sierra Leone for our collective leadership of the Ministerial meeting, and to the Liberian government delegation that supported the dialogue: Cllr. Oswald Tweh, Cllr. Samuel Kofi Woods, Sen. Momo Cyrus, Francis Nyumalin, Dr. Ibrahim Nyei, Charlyne Taylor, Amb. Geraldine Bass Golakeh, CDS David Forleh, and Amb. Sheikh Kouyate. Teamwork results in dream work.
