Today representatives of civil society organisations, authorities and political parties had a discussion about the implementation of EU Election Observation Mission's recommendations in Maseru. The participants of the roundtable discussed the Mission's 21 recommendations from various points of view.
The European Union Election Observation Mission published its Final Report on 5 December.

The European Union Election Observation Mission returned to Lesotho to present its Final Report. It was published in a press conference in Maseru 5 December.

This morning EU EOM Deputy Chief Observer Armin Rabitsch gave an interview to Thahameso morning show on Lesotho Television. Mr Rabitsch explained in detail the key findings and recommendations of the European Union Election Observation mission to Lesotho. The EU EOM presented its Final Report with 21 recommendations in Maseru two days ago.

This morning EU EOM Deputy Chief Observer Armin Rabitsch was interviewed in the Thahameso morrning programme of Lesotho Television. Mr Rabitsch went through all the key recommendations of the European Union Election Observation Mission and stressed that in the election cycle, it is best to start electoral reforms just after the elections.

In the meeting with the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and the Vice President of the Senate, the EU EOM Chief Observer Ignazio Corrao presented some main findings of the EU EOM to Lesotho. The European Union Election Observation Mission will present its Final Report to the public on Monday, 5 December. The Report includes 21 recommendations out of which seven are considered primary.

In the discussion, among other issues, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Tlohang Sekhamane, raised the issue of campaign spending limitations. What would the limitations mean in practice?

EU EOM is back in Maseru and hard at work already. In preparation of the release of the mission’s Final Report, the Core Team met with the Hon Prime Minister and the Hon Deputy PM and the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Nthomeng Majara. The European Union Election Observation Mission, the first of its kind In Lesotho, will publish its Final Report next Monday.
