Lesotho Takes Major Step Toward Digital Inclusion

A high-level delegation led by Hon. Nthati Moorosi, Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Hon. Prof. Ntoi Rapapa, Minister of Education and Training (MoET), and UNDP Lesotho Resident Representative Dr. Jacqueline Olweya visited Community Digital Skills Centres in Mafeteng District, showcasing the national rollout of the Community Digital Inclusion Model (CDIM).

The delegation toured Kolo High School, Makaota High School, and T’sakholo High School, engaging with school leadership, Community Digital Ambassadors, and local beneficiaries. These centres are transforming school computer labs into Community Digital Learning Centres (CDLCs), offering digital literacy training in previously underserved communities.

The initiative is being implemented by UNDP Lesotho in partnership with MoET and MICSTI, with technical expertise provided by Universal Health Information Consultants (UHIC) and SparkleSmart Technologies, acting as joint venture consultants behind the model’s design and rollout.

During the visits, hands-on demonstrations and community feedback highlighted the real-world impact of inclusive digital transformation, reinforcing the importance of equipping citizens with the skills and tools needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.

The CDIM marks a significant milestone in Lesotho’s efforts to bridge the digital divide. As implementation continues, more stories, insights, and community experiences will be shared, reflecting the journey toward a digitally empowered nation.
