Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Leads Courtesy Visit with Senior Officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports

On Thursday, 12 February 2026, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education of the Republic of The Gambia, Honourable Dr. Habibatou Drammeh, accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sport of The Gambia and the Deputy Director of TIBU Africa, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of The Gambia in Rabat.

The visit formed part of an institutional mission to Casablanca, undertaken at the invitation of TIBU Africa, aimed at gaining deeper insight into the organization’s education-through-sport model. This approach promotes inclusive education pathways and supports the social integration of children and youth, including those in Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET) situations.

During the meeting, the Honourable Minister and her delegation briefed the Mission on the objectives of the visit and engaged in constructive exchanges on prospective areas of cooperation. Discussions underscored the importance of strengthened coordination among relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and impactful outcomes.
In receiving the delegation, the Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires reaffirmed the Embassy’s readiness to support the mission through its coordination and facilitation mandate.

The Chargé d’Affaires further noted the series of high-level official visits by Gambian authorities to the Kingdom of Morocco over the past year, reflecting the depth and consolidation of bilateral relations between Banjul and Rabat. He expressed optimism that the Honourable Minister’s engagement with TIBU Africa would yield tangible results aligned with existing partnerships.

The Executive Committee of the Gambia Students’ Association in Morocco (GASAM) paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of The Gambia in Rabat on 4 February 2026 to present its Activity Plan for 2026 and brief the Mission on challenges faced by Gambian students in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The meeting, held in keeping with established tradition following the election of a new Executive Committee, was attended by the Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires, alongside Embassy Officials. In his opening remarks, the Deputy Head of Mission reaffirmed the Government of the Republic of The Gambia’s continued commitment, through the Embassy, to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of Gambian citizens and students abroad, and assured the Association of the Mission’s support and cooperation.

Mr Abdoulie Bah, Deputy Head of the Mission and Charge D'Affaire of Embassy of the Republic of The Gambia in Rabat on Wednesday 23rd of April 2025, extended our deepest condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Rabat, the Catholic faithful across the Kingdom, and the global Christian community on the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

We join the world in mourning the loss of a profoundly spiritual leader whose life was dedicated to peace, compassion, interfaith dialogue, and the service of humanity. His Holiness Pope Francis will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to justice, humility, and unity among people of all faiths and backgrounds.

The thoughts and prayers of the people and Government of The Gambia are with the Holy See, the Catholic Church, and all those touched by the remarkable life and ministry of Pope Francis.

DR. C. DIEUDONNE ASSOUVI, General Director of CAFRAD, pay a courtesy call on Mr. Abdoulie BAH, Chargé d’Affairs at The Gambia Embassy in Rabat, on the 19th November 2024.

The main discussions between CAFRAD and the Embassy centered on key strategic focus of CAFRAD within the mandate of the new DG. These are namely Capacity Building, Digital Transformation, Training of Diplomats Financial, and Research Activities. The DG furthermore highlighted CAFRAD’s plan to embark on a business trip for more visibility to member countries, staged round table conference and celebrate 60 years of existence.

In his remarks, Mr. Abdoulie BAH, Chargé d’Affairs of The Gambia Embassy thanked the General Director and his team for this maiden visit, wished him a very prosperous mandate, and looked forwarded to more collaboration with CAFRAD. He recalled the fact that many Gambian civil servants have before attended training sessions with CAFRAD through Personal Management Office of The Gambia and hopefully this trend will continue in the future particularly with the visit of the DG in Banjul.

The Embassy of the Republic of The Gambia in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, is aware of the publication by Fatu Network on the 6th April 2024 about 41 Gambian migrants rescued by Moroccan Navy in Dahkla on Monday 22nd April 2024. The Embassy of the Republic has the honour to informed you that 24 out of the 41 Gambians have arrived at Banjul International Airport this morning at 0130 and the remaining 17 of them have absconded.

Ambassador Her Excellency, Saffie Lowe-Ceesay and the entire staffs of the Embassy of the Republic of The Gambia in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco will like to use this opportunity to thank the Government of the Republic of The Gambia, International Organization for Migration(IOM), Ministry of interior of the Kingdom of Morocco and Consular General of the Republic of The Gambia in Dakhla for making this possible.

The discussion was centered on many aspects of cooperations , key among them was side events slated for 2nd and 3rd May 2024, at the margins of the OIC summit between the Republic of The Gambia and Islamic Center for Development of Trade(ICDT)

Her Excellency Madam Saffie Lowe-Ceesay, The Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia, expressed delight and hope that there joint Cooperations will further deepen the cordial ties that binds the two Countries together and assured her the full cooperation of The Embassy.

Embassy of the Republic of The Gambia in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco presented a cheque to the President of Gambian Students’ Association in Morocco(GASAM) towards their Annual Tobaski event, which brings together Gambian students in Morocco to socialize and celebrate as one big family. This event will help in easing the transition and integration of the new students in Morocco.
