On ANZAC Day this year, the Australian Embassy in Morocco, in collaboration with ISMAC, hosted a special screening of Gallipoli by acclaimed Australian director Peter Weir.
The evening brought together Australians, members or the diplomatic corps, friends, and students, and it served as a moment of remembrance and reflection on the sacrifices made during the First World War and the enduring legacy of the ANZAC spirit.
In his remarks, Ambassador Damien Donavan spoke about the significance of ANZAC Day in Australia’s national consciousness and the importance of remembering the human cost of war in a world still marked by conflict and instability.
The Embassy extends its sincere thanks to Mr Abdessamad Moutei, director of ISMAC, its students, faculty, and all guests who contributed to this meaningful evening of remembrance.
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

Creating a buzz 🐝 through sharing experiences on pollinator health 🇦🇺🇲🇦
From avocado farms in northern Morocco, sharing experiences with local beekeepers is helping shape the future of pollinator health and sustainable agriculture.
Ambassador Damien Donavan, together with Southern Cross University, International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas - ICARDA Morocco, and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research - ACIAR Initiative Manager in Morocco, recently visited beekeeping communities as part of a scoping mission exploring the urgent challenges facing pollinators and beekeepers.
Climate change, Varroa destructor, pesticide exposure, and habitat loss are placing increasing pressure on bees - threatening food production, biodiversity, and rural livelihoods.
Funded through the Africa-Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture and led by Southern Cross University in partnership with ICARDA Morocco and KNUST Ghana, this research is helping strengthen beekeeping and pollination industries across Morocco, Ghana, and Australia which are critical to support food security and agricultural resilience. Stay tuned for more stories about the strong collaboration and great work under this program.
