Senior US and RMI officials met in Majuro to discuss shared security concerns under the COFA, with participation from multiple agencies, including the RMI Post Office (MIPSA).
MIPSA highlighted how border security and coordination affect mail safety.
Postal Inspector and Deputy Postmaster General Vivian Koroivulaono raised concerns about gaps in pre-departure screening for parcels from the United States and the risk of illegal drugs entering the Marshall Islands through the mail. She also addressed the increasing reliance on seamail and the ongoing airmail vs seamail issue that continues to affect mail service across the country.
