Developed during the summer semester of 2026, as part of the "Culture and Civilization 4" course under the supervision of OeAD lecturer Besim Alili, this project focuses primarily on the linguistic contact between the Macedonian and German languages. 🇦🇹🤝🇲🇰
Students Marija Nikolovska, Veronika Pavlovska and Slobodan Delovski from the "Blazhe Koneski" Faculty of Philology successfully presented a project that not only adds value to German-Macedonian linguistics but also serves as an educational initiative for the general public in North Macedonia. 📚
The initial phase involved the identification, collection and verification of Macedonian loanwords. Particular emphasis was placed on the frequent usage of words within the Macedonian language that have been borrowed from the German-speaking world over time. Examples include the commonly used terms "sekkieren – (се) секира" and "schminken – (се) шминка". These findings were presented at the opening ceremony, after which attendees had the opportunity to view the exhibition. 👌
The results of the project were transcribed and documented in the form of a lexicon. Gratitude is extended to the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Vladimir Martinovski, PhD, the Head of the Institute of Translation Studies, Vladimir Cvetkoski, PhD and special thanks to Lecturer Sashka Grujovska-Milanova, MA. 👍
