Questions about education we pondered last week.

An afternoon at the teashop with two of the IELTS students turned out to be this creative poem…

Monk

People smoke small thin roll
and munch red nuts on green leaves.
They wonder on the bridge breathing soft wet air
Above a green creek
Full of fish and birds

They walk across the street
with hard and angry eyes

But other turns their pages
Pages that moves like wind
Over quiet water

Why don't we just stop and let our mind do their own thing
Why do we follow without asking ?
We should trust ourself too
And believe in the voice inside

So pause , relax and chill and take a deep breath.

By Devlin

Puffing and chewing throughout the day, red paint over the ground and smokes in the way. What a moment seized near the lake with birds and fishes enjoying the day. The air reeks of ci**rs but fades fast into the moist air. The streets teeming with turning heads with red stains from the betel they chewed. People are too blinded by the books and paying homage only to the creater within us hoping for some sort of guidance , while we lose focus on life that’s right in front of us.

By Diana

Two-faced
Thy spoke finely rehearsed lines
Wore delicate suits tailored with highest level of craftsmanship
With some big men conspiring against the whole nation at the most glorious hall
Then speak thy across the media about all the great changes ye plan on making
Yet laymen choose their attention in those finely tuned words which seemed to harmonize with their inner self
Why ask we not ourselves to reason out of blind faith paying homage to only the creator within us, without breaking trust to our own selves?
Take a deep breath

Nmko

Thy puff softly on great cigar
Chewed on betel leaves with nuts, thy mouth red colored
Inhale the fresh air under the big tree beside the green creek fecund with different breed of fishes & birds
Then walk thy wonder around the monastery with looks of anger from chewing
Yet laymen choose their attention in turning the pages which seemed to take flight by rages of flapping wings above still water
Why ask we not ourselves to reason out of blind faith paying homage to only the creator within us, without breaking trust to our own selves? Take a deep breath.

Thy smoked finely wrapped to***co
Chewed red nuts packed in betel leaves
Breathe in moist air on the bridge across the green creek fecund with different breed of fishes & birds
Then walk thy across the street deliver looks of fury on thou betel chewing visages
Yet laymen choose their attention in turning the pages which seemed to take flight by rages of flapping wings above still water
Why ask we not ourselves to reason out of blind faith paying homage to only the creator within us, without breaking trust to our own selves? Take a deep breath.

Today at the library, words found their way into something beautiful.

We had the joy of creating two collaborative poems, each carrying a different rhythm and voice. "A Sea of Downtown" was written by three of us, each person contributing a single line, yet somehow forming a shared flow of imagery and feeling. It’s a small reminder of how individual thoughts can come together to create something bigger.

The second poem, "The Line", was written together with our students and teacher. Every line reflects not only language learning, but also connection, creativity, and the courage to express ideas in a new way.

Moments like these turn the library into more than just a place for studying. It becomes a space for imagination, collaboration, and quiet inspiration.

We’re grateful for these shared words and the voices behind them.
