In 1955, Atomic Energy division, which is recently known as Division of Atomic Energy, was established. We are Founding member of International Atomic Energy Agency in 1957. DAE is Regulatory body and Competent Authority for ensuring the safety of people and environment form harmful effect of radiation as well as promoting the peaceful use of nuclear technology in Myanmar.
Moreover, DAE implementing the country’s obligations and responsibilities in the following International Treaty, Agreement and Convention which Myanmar has signed, partied, membered and accession to.
- State Party to Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)
- Signed Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (SEANWFZ)
