ယနေ့ကျရောက်သော နိုင်ငံတကာ လိင်တူချစ်သူများအပေါ်မုန်းတီးခြင်း၊ လိင်တူ/လိင်ကွဲနှစ်မျိုးလုံးကိုချစ်သူများအပေါ် ဆန့်ကျင်ခြင်းနှင့် လိင်ပြောင်းပုဂ္ဂိုလ်များအပေါ် ကြောက်ရွံ့မုန်းတီးခြင်း တိုက်ဖျက်ရေးနေ့တွင် ကနေဒါနိုင်ငံသည် ရန်ကုန်ရှိ သံတမန်မိတ်ဖက်များ၊ ယဉ်ကျေးမှုအဖွဲ့အစည်းများနှင့်အတူ လူတိုင်း၏ ဂုဏ်သိက္ခာ၊ တန်းတူညီမျှမှုနှင့် လူ့အခွင့်အရေးများကို ကာကွယ်မြှင့်တင်ရန် ခိုင်မာစွာ ရပ်တည်ပါသည်။

Canada acknowledges reports that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was moved to house arrest after she was detained by the Myanmar military in 2021. We call on authorities to allow her access to her legal counsel, medical care and her family.

Canada continues to call for her unconditional release and the release of all remaining political prisoners, an immediate end to the violence and to establish a meaningful, credible and inclusive dialogue for the people of Myanmar.

Canada welcomes the release of U Win Myint and more than 4,500 prisoners during a New Year’s Day amnesty.

Canada calls for the unconditional release of all political prisoners, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, an end to the violence and a return to a meaningful dialogue toward a peaceful resolution for the people of Myanmar.

🌼On the occasion of Thingyan, Myanmar New Year, the Embassy of Canada to Myanmar extends our best wishes to the people of Myanmar. We honour the courage and resilience of the Myanmar people and their enduring hope for peace during these challenging times.

🌼We continue to condemn the ongoing violence and note with grave concern increased air strikes on civilians, schools, hospitals and places of worship, continued restrictions on fundamental freedoms, and ongoing detention of political prisoners.

🌼Thingyan is a moment that can allow space for steps that reduce violence and build confidence toward a more peaceful and prosperous New Year. Canada stands with those working towards peace and an inclusive democratic future.
