On 02 June 2026, a Special Seminar on Madhya Pradesh Tourism promotion was organised by Embassy of India in association with Madhya Pradesh Tourism. Hunnu Airline and several Tourist companies from Mongolia participated in the event. In his opening remarks, HE Mr Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of India highlighted the importance of Sanchi with respect to Buddhist Tourism. He also mentioned that Mongolian nationals would love to visit the wild life sanctuaries of Madhya Pradesh to see tigers, leopards, etc. in their original habitat. Mr Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh gave a detailed presentation on the various tourist destinations and the service industry. He also stated that Indian tourist would also be interested to visit Mongolia.

On 31 May 2026, Hon'ble Governor of Assam, HE Mr Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the Pethub Monastery in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and paid floral tribute to the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Monastery premises. Hon'ble Governor met with 20th Bakula Rinpoche and discussed various issues regarding their well-being and the working of the Monastery. He paid tributes in the main temple hall. He interacted with the Indian monks from Ladakh at the Monastery. Mr Sonam Wangchuk, Deputy Director General of the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace (ABCP) and former close aide of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche (1918-2003) explained about the history of the Monastery. The Monstery was founded by the Ambassador of India to Mongolia Kushok Bakula Rinpoche in 1997 through his personal savings.

On 31 May 2026, Hon’ble Governor of Assam, HE Mr Lakshman Prasad Acharya and HE Mr L Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Education of Mongolia jointly inaugurated the following exhibitions at the Gandantegchenling Monastery:
i) Sariputta and Moggallana – A Journey of Wisdom, Devotion and Relics – by International Buddhist Confederation
ii) From India to Mongolia: The Transmission of Buddha Dhamma Across Inner Asia – by International Buddhist Confederation
iii) Vessels of Light: Iconoggraphy, Relics and Path of Dhamma (Shakyamuni Buddha’s Journey through Museum Collections of India – by National Museum of India
HE Mr Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of India to Mongolia and His Eminence Khamba Nomun Khan Geshe Lharampa D Javzandorj, Chief Abbot of the Gandantegchenling Monastery were also present. Thousands of people visiting the exposition of the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha’s two Chief Disciples witnessed the exhibition.

On 31 May 2026, the exposition of Lord Buddha‘s two Chief Disciples Arahant Sariputra and Arahant Maudgalyayana was opened to public on the auspicious Buddha Purnima Day in Mongolia at the Gandantegchenling Monastery. The Chief Guest of the event HE Mr Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, India stated that India and Mongolia have spiritual bond and under the able leadership of HE Mr Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India the relationship between India and Mongolia are further strengthening. HE Mr Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Education of Mongolia thanked the Government of India for the exposition and announced that degrees of the Mongolian Buddhist monks studying in India will be recognised in Mongolia. HE Mr Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of India enumerated the various initiatives taken by the Embassy of India under the guidance of Hon’ble PM of India to further strengthen the India Mongolia Buddhism bonds. He thanked all organisers and the Government of Mongolia for their support. Several high-level monks from India, Mongolia and Sri Lanka spoke at the event. The event included religious chants, cultural performances. Senior monks, senior government officials and people from all of life participated in the event. A Special Message from HE Mr Khurelsukh Ukhna, President of Mongolia was read on the occasion by Ms Yanjinsuren, Advisor to the President. HE Mr Enkhbayar, 3rd President of Mongolia was the Special Guest of the honour. Most Ven Mr D Choijmat, President of ABCP also participated in the event. The event was attended by senior officials of Mongolia, distinguished guests and people from all walks of life. Mantra chanting was done by monks from various countries like Thailand, Japan, Korea, Mongolia and India.

Hon’ble Governor of Assam, HE Mr Lakshman Prasad Acharya brought the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha's two Chief Disciples Arahant Sariputra and Arahant Maudgalyayana to Mongolia by Special Indian Air Force Flight for 10 days Exposition from 31 May 2026 to 09 June 2026 at the Gandan Monastery, Ulaanbaatar, . He is accompanied by high level delegation of officers from Government of India, Government of Madhya Pradesh, International Buddhist Confederation, senior monks from India and Sri Lanka. The relics were received with great reverence and befitting religious ceremony by HE Mr L Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Education of Mongolia and His Eminence Khamba Nomun Khan, Geshe Lharampa D Javzandorj, Chief Abbot of The Gandantegchenling Monastery at the airport. On the streets, several people paid reverence to the vehicle in which the relics were travelling. Chief Abbots of various leading monasteries, monks and HE N Enkhbayar, former (3rd) President of Mongolia were also present. The holy relics were enshrined with due religious ceremony at the Gandan Monastery. The relics will be open to public to pay tributes from 31 May to 09 June 2026.
