The CNMI Department of Corrections proudly held its first-ever orientation with Northern Marianas College (NMC) Nursing students, marking the launch of a new program allowing students to complete part of their clinical requirements at DOC.
This historic milestone strengthens interagency collaboration, expands access to healthcare services for justice-involved individuals, and provides future nurses with meaningful, real-world experience that builds clinical skills, professionalism, and compassion in a correctional setting.
We look forward to the positive impact this partnership will have on both our institutions and the community we serve.

The CNMI Department of Corrections has been awarded funding through the Opioid Proceeds Council to strengthen our officersโ ability to engage with justice-involved individuals affected by substance use disorders.
These funds will support specialized training that equips our staff with the knowledge, tools, and trauma-informed approaches needed to promote safety, rehabilitation, and recovery. This investment reinforces our commitment to addressing substance use with compassion, accountability, and evidence-based practicesโboth inside our facilities and in the community.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the OPC Team and the Office of the Attorney General for supporting these vital training opportunities for our department.
