Pursuant to the Open Government Act (1 CMC §9901 et seq), the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (“CUC”) Board of Directors Personnel Committee hereby informs the general public that the Committee will hold a Personnel Committee Meeting on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in the CUC Conference Room, Room 17, 3rd Floor, Joeten Dandan Building. The following agenda will be considered, and public attendance is welcome.

The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) has been notified by Mobil Oil Mariana Islands, Inc. of a decrease in average international fuel oil prices, resulting in a reduction to the Fuel Adjustment Charge (FAC) for the month of June 2026.

Effective June 1, 2026, the FAC will decrease from $0.44489 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to $0.41280 per kWh.

Although the FAC for May 2026 was calculated at $0.60481 per kWh based on the average international fuel oil prices at that time, CUC did not petition the Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to increase the FAC from $0.44489, which became effective on May 15, 2026.

The FAC is one of two components of CUC’s electric charge and is used exclusively to recover fuel and fuel-related costs. The second component, the Base Rate, has remained unchanged since April 2014 and supports personnel, operations, capital projects, and other non-fuel-related expenses.

CUC crews are hard at work maximizing available resources by recovering storm-damaged transmission and distribution materials to assess whether they can be safely reused. CUC and GPA crews are also working together to test both new and salvaged transformers from the storm to ensure they are safe and usable before being reinstalled on power poles.

These efforts help make the most of available on-hand materials while additional supplies and equipment continue to arrive, supporting faster progress toward power restoration in the days ahead.

Power Restoration Continues in Mt. Tapochau, Capitol Hill, San Roque, Tanapag, Gualo Rai, and Chalan Kiya 🔌⚡

CUC is grateful for the hard work and dedication of both CUC and GPA crews as power restoration efforts continue in the Mt. Tapochau, Capitol Hill, San Roque, Tanapag, Gualo Rai, and Chalan Kiya areas. Both crews are actively working across multiple locations to repair damaged transmission and distribution infrastructure and restore power service to homes and businesses throughout the island.

We appreciate the community’s continued patience, support, and understanding as island-wide power restoration efforts progress.
