Our latest series of Courses in Crafts and workshops are now open for registrations, offering the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill, explore your creativity, and discover the satisfaction of making something with your own hands.
Organised by the Malta Crafts Foundation in collaboration with local artisans, this year’s programme includes both returning favourites and a number of new courses and workshops being offered for the very first time, at both beginner and intermediate levels.
Whether you're looking to try something different, pick up a new hobby, or simply make the most of the summer months, there's a course or workshop waiting for you.

The Artisan Exhibition showcasing all submissions for this year’s Premju Ä ieħ l-Artiġjanat Malti, including the products competing in the Category 1 sub-categories and for the coveted People’s Choice Award, is now open at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta.
With free entrance, the exhibition is open daily until 28th June: from Tuesday to Friday between 09:00h and 21:00h, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 10:00h and 21:00h.
While visiting the exhibition, don’t forget to vote for your favourite artisanal products in each category to help them win the People’s Choice Award: https://maltacrafts.org/poll/premju-gieh-l-artigjanat-malti-2025-peoples-choice-award.

For our latest Meet the Artisans session, we visited Nicholas Zammit in Fawwara to explore the fascinating world of honey production and beekeeping.
During the session, Nicholas introduced participants to the care, patience, and knowledge required to work alongside bees, offering insight into the delicate process behind the production of high-quality local honey.
A sweet and memorable morning surrounded by nature, curiosity, and craftsmanship.

Ever wondered what really goes on inside a beehive — and how that golden jar of honey ends up on your table?
For our next Meet the Artisans session, by popular demand, we will once again be visiting Nicholas Zammit in Fawwara to discover the fascinating world of honey production and beekeeping. Nicholas will be offering insights into the care, patience, and knowledge required to work alongside bees and produce high-quality local honey.
The session will be held on Sunday, May 24th, between 10:00h and 12:00h.
Spaces are very limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, with preference given to those who were unable to attend the session in previous years.

Following the European Crafts Alliance General Assembly, the Malta Crafts Foundation also participated in the Annual Conference, held in Florence and online under the theme “Crafting Wellbeing: Practices, Communities and the Power of Making.”
Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and craft organisations from across Europe, the conference explored the growing role of craft in supporting wellbeing, social inclusion, rehabilitation, and community development.
A key highlight of this year’s programme was the presentation of the European report "Crafting Health and Wellbeing", alongside practical examples showing how craft is being integrated into education, therapeutic interventions, and inclusive professional pathways.
The conference concluded with closing remarks delivered by the Foundation’s CEO, Elton Micallef, in his role as Vice-President of the European Crafts Alliance, reinforcing the importance of continuing to strengthen the role of craft within wider social and cultural frameworks.

The Malta Crafts Foundation participated in the European Crafts Alliance General Assembly, held in Florence, Italy, which brought together members from across Europe to discuss the future of the crafts sector.
Over two days of meetings, workshops, and networking sessions, the General Assembly focused on collaboration, new opportunities for members, and the continued strengthening of the European crafts network. This year’s programme also included the introduction of new member organisations, strategy sessions, and discussions on the evolving role of crafts within contemporary society.
The programme also included visits to ARTEX, and to the MIDA90 International Handicraft Exhibition, offering participants the opportunity to experience first-hand the work being carried out within the Tuscan craft sector and to explore one of Europe’s long-standing international fairs dedicated to craftsmanship and design.
Through its active participation, the Malta Crafts Foundation continued to represent the local crafts sector within the wider European context, helping build stronger international connections and creating new opportunities for Maltese artisans.

The latest Meet the Artisan session offered participants the opportunity to explore the craft of crochet through an engaging experience.
Led by local artisan Joanne Bugeja, the session introduced participants to the techniques and creative possibilities of crochet, while also providing insight into the skill and patience behind each handmade piece.

Pjazza Tritoni came alive with colour, creativity, and craftsmanship during this year’s edition of Blooms, our spring artisan market.
Bringing together around 50 local artisans, the market offered visitors the opportunity to explore a wide variety of handmade products, alongside live demonstrations that provided insight into the skill and processes behind each creation.
Set against a lively atmosphere, and accompanied by traditional Maltese folk music, the event created a vibrant space where craft, culture, and community came together at the entrance to Valletta.
