Today we remember the last voyage of HMS Olympus and the servicemen who lost their lives aboard. The loss of the HMS Olympus remains the single biggest submarine tragedy of the Second World War and the Royal Navy’s submarine history.

Today marks the 84th anniversary of the loss of HMS Urge. Lost on 27 April 1942 with 44 people on board, her wreck lies off Malta as a protected war grave. We remember those lost and continue our commitment to safeguarding this shared underwater cultural heritage.

Join Heritage Malta’s Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit (UCHU) and Din L-Art Helwa for a public lecture presented by Prof. Timmy Gambin, in which he will discuss the discovery and excavation of the B-24 Liberator, an American Bomber from the 2nd World War.

You will also get the chance to see the historic site of the B-24 Liberator through UCHU's VR Experience. 🌊

Join us on the 18th of February, for the second ASM lecture of 2026, this time delivered by Prof Timmy Gambin. Lecture will be in-person at the Grand Hotel Excelsior at 18.00hrs.
