This year's Anzac Day Commemorative Wreath Laying Service, co-hosted with New Zealand, will commence at 09.00am on Saturday 25 April at Pietà Military Cemetery.
This service is dedicated to all those Australians and New Zealanders who lost their lives at Gallipoli in 1915, and in all subsequent military and peacekeeping operations, including those that are currently still active. It is also an occasion to acknowledge the role of Malta in the care of the sick and wounded, as well as the sacrifice and service of so many others in times of conflict.
The service is expected to last for approximately 45 - 60 minutes.
In accordance with the Anzac Day tradition, the event will be open to the public.
We ask that guests and members of the public be seated by 08.45am.
Members of the public who wish to lay a wreath are welcome to do so once invited by the Master of Ceremonies.
Military medals and decorations may be worn.
Guests may wish to wear sunhats and other protection against the sun.
Information about changes to time of the service, for example due to inclement weather conditions, will be published on the Australian High Commission website and social media channels.

Armistice Day means so much to so many, 107 years after the guns fell silent on the Western Front in Europe, marking the official end to the tragedy of WWI.
In laying a wreath this morning at the Saluting Battery in Valletta, NZ Honorary Consul Kevin Bonnici was touched by this charming photo Ruth Burton, 90+ UK long-term resident in Malta and unwavering attendee at every annual commemoration, gave to him. She took the photo at last year's service and was thrilled to give this and one of Australian High Commissioner Matt Skelly to her "New Zealand and Australian friends" 🇳🇿🇦🇺🇬🇧🇲🇹
It was really great to see a large group of Maltese school children taking part in the commemoration today, ensuring that tomorrow's generation appreciates and experiences the memories and emotions of Ruth's generation (and those before and after) 🕊️🫶

Remembrance Sunday in Malta and once again a moment to reflect on all those from the four corners of the globe who gave their lives against tyranny so that we may enjoy freedom today.

What was forecast to be a rainy day turned out to be a sunny commemoration for the 458 Squadron RAAF (based in Malta at the end of WWII) at the Malta Memorial, also known as the Commonwealth Air Forces Memorial, in Floriana just outside Valletta.
Once again, it was a great honour to lay a wreath in commemoration of those Squadron members from Australia 🇦🇺, New Zealand-Aotearoa 🇳🇿, United Kingdom 🇬🇧, Canada 🇨🇦 & South Africa 🇿🇦 who gave their lives in Europe in the name of world freedom and democracy.
In laying a wreath this morning, the Honorary Consul had a special thought for the four Kiwi members of the Squadron who lie far from their homeland of the long white cloud:
🕊️ F/Sgt I. Kippenberger
🕊️ F/O I.D. Prebble
🕊️ P/O R. Birnie
🕊️ F/O J. Reid
