Following this morning’s explosion in the Magħtab area, and following communications with the Civil Protection Department (CPD), the Naxxar Local Council is urging the public to avoid travelling through T’Alla u Ommu, Triq is-Salina, and the surrounding areas until further notice. Members of the public are kindly requested to use alternative routes and follow the instructions of the authorities.

The Council will continue to liaise with the Civil Protection Department and provide updates as necessary.

3️⃣Day 3 in Malta. We are concluding our three days of activities in Malta with a major training and testing session at the Maria Regina College Qawra Primary School, gathering around 150 teachers, school administrators, and staff members.

Similar to our first day, the agenda focuses on introducing the SYNERGIES project and deep-diving into the Educational Handbook and Training for Schools developed by Save the Children Italia.

Today's large audience provides an excellent opportunity to run hands-on activities, allowing educators to directly test the tools and share their operational feedback on risk awareness and disaster preparedness for younger generations.

A thank you to Bjorn Bonello and Regjun Tramuntana for their coordination in organising such a practical and productive event.

On Friday 5th June, the National Blood Transfusion Service will be open until 8pm as part of the Twilight Donation Sessions.

👉 Today, we have kicked off three days of operational validation activities in Malta, combining school-based testing with local stakeholder engagement.

Today, we started at the St. Anton School, meeting with teachers, school personnel, and collaborators to review the project's progress and present the SYNERGIES Educational Handbook and Training for Schools.

📚 What is the handbook?
It is a practical and accessible tool designed to support teachers and school staff in preparing children and adolescents for risk awareness and disaster preparedness.

🎯 The goal:
To help educators design and execute effective educational activities, guiding younger generations to develop critical risk awareness and resilience skills.

Over the next two days, the activities will continue with a second session in another local school and a dedicated workshop with local stakeholders to validate our tools on the ground.

​Today marks Day 2 of an intensive three-day collaborative visit! We are hosting a dedicated group of EU experts, Eurocities, local stakeholders, and partner cities from across Malta to tackle one of our region's most pressing challenges: residential road safety.
​Over the next three days, our delegations will be visiting various localities within the Northern Region. The goal? To exchange knowledge, share best practices, and build strong cooperative solutions to safeguard our communities.
​🎯 Our Key Target
​We are actively addressing unsafe traffic flows in residential and historic areas—specifically focusing on the risks and congestion caused by heavy through-traffic within our localities. These initiatives will be strictly data-driven.
​By learning from international and local experts, we are working to design smarter, safer, and quieter neighborhoods for everyone.

Residenti f’numru ta’ lokalitajiet issa jistgħu jħallsu l-kontijiet tad-dawl u l-ilma direttament fl-uffiċċji tal-Kunsill Lokali tagħhom, permezz ta’ proġett pilota ġdid li qed jagħmel is-servizzi ta’ ħlas aktar aċċessibbli, konvenjenti u qrib il-komunità.

Din l-inizjattiva qed titwettaq permezz ta’ kollaborazzjoni bejn ARMS Ltd u numru ta’ Kunsilli Lokali li għażlu li jipparteċipaw. L-għan tal-proġett huwa li r-residenti jingħataw għażla oħra prattika biex iħallsu l-kontijiet tagħhom.

Is-servizz il-ġdid se jikkumplimenta l-mezzi ta’ ħlas li diġà toffri ARMS Ltd, filwaqt li jsaħħaħ il-prinċipju li s-servizzi pubbliċi għandhom ikunu eqreb tan-nies u mfassla skont il-ħtiġijiet tal-komunitajiet.
