Life is all about learning. We can also learn from the past as some of the second years did when they visited Tax-Xierfa Agriculture museum, an amazing treasure found in Rabat.
History came alive thanks to Josette, giving a very informative tour and being able to try hands on what it was like to have to pump water rather than open the tap. We learnt how ‘It-Tberfil’ (a kind of art) was done to decorate wagon wheels and means of transport. We also saw how slow cooking was done using a Kenur to cook on.

Today, some of the second years visited the Soup Kitchen OFM - Valletta , where one of the young people is currently doing his placement. He had the opportunity to show them what he is learning and the skills he is developing. They also had the chance to help with the cleaning after lunch.
So grateful for such collaborations and for the peer‑to‑peer opportunities that youth work provides!

Work placements are more than just a learning experience; they are an opportunity for young people to discover their potential.
Every task completed, challenge overcome, and responsibility taken on contributes to a growing sense of accomplishment and pride. These moments build confidence, strengthen independence, and motivate young people to aim higher.
A genuine sense of achievement is a powerful driver for personal growth, helping young people develop the resilience, self-belief, and skills needed for their next steps in education, employment, and life.

One of the important life skills we emphasise within the Youth.Inc- Aġenzija Żgħażagħ programme is independent mobility and helping young people feel confident travelling around the island on their own.
For some young people, this already comes naturally, while others may need more encouragement, support, and practice. Through peer-to-peer support, guidance from youth workers, and gradual exposure, we continuously see young people grow in confidence and independence.
As we prepare to welcome the new intake joining us in October 2026, we would like to encourage young people and families to use the summer months to start practising and strengthening this important skill. Small steps can make a big difference in building confidence, responsibility, and independence.

We would like to sincerely thank Amigos Malta and the Kunsill Lokali Mosta and Library for their collaboration, support, and willingness to provide these learning experiences. Partnerships like these play an important role in helping young people prepare for future employment and community participation.
