🌿🦀 A Special Encounter at Lunzjata Valley!

During CCA walk at Lunzjata Valley, our students were fortunate to spot the endemic Maltese freshwater crab (Potamon fluviatile lanfrancoi), an endangered species! 🇲🇹

Another lovely activity as part of our Complementary Curricular Activities (CCAs)!
Our students enjoyed a refreshing walk through the beautiful surroundings of il-Lunzjata Valley, taking time to appreciate nature, enjoy the fresh air and spend quality time together outside the classroom. 🌸🍃

💙 Another Highlight from Our CCAs – Minds Beyond Walls!

🤝 Voluntary Work at Casa Amalia ❤️

Our students had the opportunity to engage in voluntary work at Casa Amalia, putting into practice the values of kindness, compassion and community service.

Through this meaningful experience, students learned that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference. 💕

A wonderful reminder that learning goes beyond the classroom and that giving back to our community is just as important as academic achievement.

👏 Well done to all our students for their enthusiasm and willingness to make a positive difference!

👩‍🍳🍳 CCA – Minds Beyond Walls | Cooking Group! 🥕🥦

Another exciting hands-on activity took place today as part of our Complementary Curricular Activities (CCA) programme!

Our Cooking Group students stepped into the kitchen to develop essential culinary skills while learning the importance of safety, hygiene and teamwork. 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

🔪 Knife Safety: Learning how to handle a chef’s knife safely using a stable chopping board and the claw grip technique.

🧼 Food Safety & Hygiene: Understanding proper food handling and safe cooking temperatures.

🥕 Food Preparation: Practising cutting vegetables into even pieces for consistent cooking and applying mise en place – preparing and organising ingredients before cooking.

🔥 Cooking Techniques: Learning how to stir-fry using controlled high heat and season food to taste.

🍗🥦 The Final Challenge: Students put their newly acquired skills into practice by following a recipe and preparing their very own delicious Chicken and Vegetable Stir-Fry!

👏 A wonderful opportunity for our students to develop practical life skills, creativity, confidence and independence beyond the traditional classroom.

🌟 Learning by doing – because education goes beyond classroom walls!

🇪🇺🌍 Exploring Opportunities Beyond Borders!

Today, at Sir M.A. Refalo Sixth Form, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Raphael Scerri, Chief Executive Officer and National Coordinator of the European Union Programmes Agency (EUPA), together with Mr Jesmond Buttigieg from Europe Direct Gozo.

🎤 Addressing a full school hall, Mr Scerri delivered an engaging and informative session highlighting the exciting opportunities available to young people through Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.

🌟 A special highlight of the session was the contribution of one of our own students, Emily Tabone, who shared her personal experience of participating in an Erasmus+ mobility to Poland. Her first-hand account demonstrated how such experiences foster personal growth, independence, intercultural understanding and lifelong friendships.

💙 At Sir M.A. Refalo Sixth Form, we strongly believe in providing our students with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom, encouraging them to explore, learn, connect and grow as active European citizens.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to Mr Raphael Scerri and Mr Jesmond Buttigieg for their visit, valuable insights and continued support in bringing European opportunities closer to our students. A special well done to Emily Tabone for sharing her experience and inspiring her fellow students!

🇪🇺 Opening doors, broadening horizons and empowering young people through European experiences!

An opportunity for students to gain insights into the world of business, entrepreneurship, and the workplace.

🥾 Walking at Ta’ Ċenċ 🌿
Enjoying the beauty of Gozo's natural surroundings while promoting physical well-being, teamwork, and an appreciation of nature.

🇪🇺🇵🇱 Erasmus+ Job Shadowing Experience at Sir M.A. Refalo Sixth Form! 🇲🇹

This week, we also had the pleasure of welcoming teachers from Poland to our school for an Erasmus+ job shadowing experience! 🌍📚

During their visit, our Polish colleagues had the opportunity to observe German and IT lessons, exchange teaching practices and methodologies, and gain valuable insights into the daily running of our school, its educational environment and organisational structures.

🤝 Such experiences provide excellent opportunities for professional development, collaboration and the sharing of good practices across European schools.

👏 A heartfelt thank you to all our teachers and members of staff for their cooperation, support and willingness to share their expertise, making this experience both meaningful and enriching.

💙 Together, we continue to learn, share and grow through Erasmus+!

🇪🇺💙💚 Until We Meet Again – Erasmus+ Friends from Poland and Romania! 🇵🇱🇷🇴🇲🇹

We bid a heartfelt farewell to our Polish and Romanian friends as we brought another memorable Erasmus+ experience, “Blue, Green and Clean,” to a close. 🌍

The final day featured an engaging cultural workshop led by our Deputy Head and Erasmus+ Coordinator, Ms Abigail Camilleri, during which students shared their traditions, customs and cultures, celebrating both the diversity and the values that unite us as Europeans. 🤝🌏

🎓 The experience concluded with the presentation of certificates, recognising the students' active participation, collaboration and enthusiasm throughout the project.

✈️ But this is not goodbye – it is simply see you soon! In March, our students will have the exciting opportunity to visit Poland and Romania in two separate groups, further strengthening the friendships and connections established during this mobility.

🙏 A sincere thank you goes to our Head of School, Ms Frankline Zammit Galea, the Senior Leadership Team, all staff members and our wonderful students for their invaluable support, dedication and contribution towards making this Erasmus+ experience a success.

💙 Erasmus+ is much more than travelling and learning. It is about building friendships, embracing cultural diversity, sharing experiences and creating memories that last a lifetime.

🇲🇹🇵🇱🇷🇴 Different countries, different cultures, one European family! ❤️

🏝️ SCAVENGER HUNT ON COMINO – LEARNING, EXPLORING & TEAM BUILDING! 🌊☀️

On Wednesday, our school community enjoyed an exciting Scavenger Hunt on the beautiful island of Comino! 🗺️🔍

Organised by our Pastoral Team, this activity brought together 166 students and 39 teachers and members of staff for a day filled with adventure, teamwork, problem-solving and fun! 🤝

👏 A special mention goes to Mr Brian Sultana, the mastermind behind this initiative, who put into practice the knowledge and digital skills acquired during an Erasmus+ Professional Development course. By using an innovative app introduced during his training, he transformed a traditional scavenger hunt into an engaging, interactive learning experience! 📱💡

🇪🇺 We were also delighted to have our Erasmus+ friends from Poland and Romania joining us, making the experience even more special through cultural exchange, friendship and collaboration. 🇵🇱🇷🇴🇲🇹

🚑 A heartfelt thank you to Malta Rescue Corps for providing first-aid support and helping ensure everyone's safety throughout the activity.

💙 Well done to our Pastoral Team and everyone involved in making this day a success!

✨ A wonderful example of how Erasmus+ professional development can bring innovative ideas into our school, benefiting the entire school community!
