H.E. Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi, High Commissioner of Pakistan to the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Ahmed Mohamed, the Commissioner of Maldives’ Police. High Commissioner Congratulated Commissioner Ahmed on his appointment and conveyed best wishes for his tenure.
Both sides reaffirmed the strong and longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Maldives founded on shared values, mutual respect, and trust. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the law enforcement institutions of the two countries. It was agreed to explore new avenues of collaboration, strengthen existing institutional mechanisms, and improve communication channels. The police training programs in Pakistan for Maldives Police personnel were also discussed. While thanking Pakistan’s support, Commissioner Ahmed expressed interest in expanding training opportunities, particularly in specialized fields such as Information and Communication Technologies.
Meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen cooperation and advancing common objectives.

HE Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Her Excellency Madam Heena Waleed. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interests and discussed avenues for enhancing bilateral collaboration and strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026 and in pursuance of H.E the President of Maldives’ Five Million Trees Project, Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a tree plantation initiative with the Resident Diplomatic Missions on 14 Jun. The High commissioner joined this activity along with all resident Heads of the Missions. The HC assured continued support by the government of Pakistan for this valuable initiative by Maldives.

Commemorating Quaid’s 150th Birth Anniversary, High Commission, in collaboration with Maldives’ National University, organized a students’ debate competition on the life, vision, leadership traits, contributions, personality and legacy of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. HE Madam Heena Waleed, Maldives’s Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage graced event as Chief guest. Ambassadors of China, Japan, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka and Counsellor General of Russia also graced the occasion. Mr Adnana Cheema, UNDP’s Resident Rep, Mr Ali Fakhir and Professor Mohamed Didi were the judges for debate competition. Dr Fiaz Gillani and Air Cdre (r) Khalid Chishti (on line from Pakistan) also shared their valuable thoughts about Quaid’s remarkable achievements.
Event brought together large number of MNU students, distinguished Maldivian guests, diplomats and members of the Pakistani community for an engaging afternoon, marked with thought-provoking debates, speeches, cultural exchange and people to people interactions. Participating students enthusiastically reflected very well researched discourses on the leadership, vision, and enduring legacy of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, highlighting his valuable contributions for creation and laying foundation for progress & development of Pakistan. Students concluded that the positive impact of Quaid-e-Azam’s personality, his iconic leadership and precious teachings is everlasting, not confined to Pakistan but is relevant for generations to come, world wide.
In the end, the Chief guest awarded cash prizes and award certificates to the participating teams while the HC awarded mementoes to the Chief guest, VC MNU, Madam Shehnaz, MNU students, judges and members of Pakistani community. Mission extends our sincere gratitude to all participants, organizers, judges, and attendees whose valuable contributions made the event a great success.

Overseas Pakistanis Summer Scholars Programme 2026 was launched in 2025. The Programme targets overseas Pakistani students enrolled at leading international universities and offers them direct exposure to Pakistan’s policy, governance, and public sector ecosystem. Through meaningful assignments and institutional engagements, it connects the Pakistan talent abroad with the country’s ‘national development and reforms agenda.
The application deadline for the programme is 15 June 2026.

With grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan emerged victorious in final of the 75th Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament in Maldives, defeating Afghanistan by 2–0. High Commissioner (accompanied) along with Mission’s staff and their families witnessed the match to support and encourage Pakistani team. A large number of Pakistani community members in Maldives also attended and enthusiastically cheered for the national side. Following victory, the HC presented Man of the Match Award to a Pakistani player and joined the team in celebrating this remarkable achievement. The precious victory after decades marks a proud moment for Pakistan and reflects dedication, teamwork, determination of the national football team and the dynamic leadership of Pakistan’s foot ball Federation.
