At the Regional Climate Dialogue, Auditor General Mr. Hussain Niyazy participated in the panel discussion, “Fostering Transparency & Accountability through a Whole-of-Government/Whole-of-Society Approach to Climate Audits.” He emphasized the importance of building productive partnerships with both state and non-state stakeholders, including NGOs and CSOs, to strengthen climate auditing. He also shared SAI Maldives’ experience and lessons learned in fostering collaborative approaches to climate accountability.
Director General Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Jaleel and Senior Auditor Ms. Aminath Nausha presented during the session, “Sharing Audit Experiences by SAIs – Interesting & Surprising Audit Findings.” Their presentation showcased the Maldives’ experience of using satellite imagery analysis in an audit of governance and coordination mechanisms within the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve. The session highlighted how innovative and accessible technologies can generate valuable audit evidence and enhance audit impact, even in resource-constrained environments.
In addition, DG Jaleel served as a panel speaker in “Leveraging the Use of Technology and AI for Climate Audits,” a session that explored how Supreme Audit Institutions can harness emerging technologies and artificial intelligence to strengthen climate audit methodologies, improve efficiency, and deliver more impactful audit outcomes.

The Auditor General and Vice Chair of INTOSAI WGEA, Mr. Hussain Niyazy, Director General of Climate Change and Environmental Audit, Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Jaleel, and Senior Auditor, Ms. Aminath Nausha, participated in the Regional Dialogue “Making a Difference through Climate Change Audits” held in Thailand from 8–10 June 2026.
The Auditor General delivered opening remarks during the inaugural session of the conference, highlighting the importance of international cooperation, knowledge sharing, and the need for strengthening climate audit practices to support countries and communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
The delegation actively engaged in the dialogue, which brought together Supreme Audit Institutions, development partners, and climate experts to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in climate auditing, strengthen regional collaboration, and enhance the role of SAIs in addressing climate change.
The Office extends its sincere appreciation to United Nations Development Programme - UNDP for facilitating the delegation’s participation in this important event.
