Malawi Carbon Markets Initiative

The Malawi Carbon Markets Initiative (MCMI) is a Government of Malawi inter-ministerial initiative championed by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change.

The Malawi Carbon Markets Initiative has been established to facilitate the change agenda towards optimizing the opportunities for sustainable development through carbon markets and climate financing for Malawians. The MCMI mirrors the African Carbon Markets Initiative (ACMI). MCMI was launched on 23rd June 2023 by the State President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.
