The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) is today engaging the people of Karonga through vibrant road shows aimed at raising awareness about its mandate and the opportunities available through the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANePS).
Through a blend of education and entertainment (edutainment), the Authority is taking procurement information directly to the people, ensuring that communities understand how public procurement works and how they can participate in it.
The road shows are highlighting how the system provides greater visibility and access to business opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The awareness campaign comes ahead of a MANePS handholding exercise scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 June 2026, at Sumuka Inn in Karongronga.
During the exercise, business people will receive one-on-one support on how to register on MANePS, create supplier profiles and navigate the system.
PPDA encourages all entrepreneurs and suppliers to take advantage of this opportunity and position themselves to do business with Government.

MAKING SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT A REALITY IN MALAWI
The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) has convened a stakeholder validation workshop for the draft Sustainable Public Procurement and Disposal (SPPD) Policy.
This marks another important milestone in the promotion of sustainable public procurement practices in Malawi.
Speaking during the workshop, PPDA Acting Director General Timothy Kalembo emphasized that sustainability is key to achieving Malawi’s development aspirations.
He noted that the policy is expected to deliver meaningful economic, social and environmental benefits by ensuring that public procurement goes beyond compliance and contributes directly to sustainable national development.
Kalembo further highlighted that, once adopted, the policy will guide procurement practices across all public institutions.
