Today, the Law Commission joined the nation in commemorating the Day of the African Child at Matete Ground in the area of Senior Chief Fukamapiri, Nkhata Bay District.

The commemoration was held under the theme, “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa.”

As part of its mandate, the Law Commission remains committed to reviewing, reforming laws and promoting public awareness of the laws of Malawi, to ensure they effectively protect the rights and interests of every child.

Prevention of Domestic Violence Act also highlights offenses and punishments. What are the offenses and punishments under this Act? Some of the offenses arise when someone was told by court to go for counselling and they ignore the rulling. It is also the case when a person publishes court judgment and proceedings of the court on domestic Violence without the permission of the court.
