"THE DIFFICULT ART OF TEACHING RECONSTRUCTRUCTIVE MICROSURGERY"
Reconstructive microsurgery is a high precision surgical procedure ....... Any mistake is paid with an almost total failurel!
The key to succeed is to teach students that the hard part of microsurgery is to make it easy, that you have to loose your fear, and always look for perfection. But this is not achieved in few months, in takes a year of discipline, sacrifice and surrender.
That's why, I love forming young, enthusiastic surgeons to whom I have transmited my experience in a one-year fellowship program over the past 20 years!!
It really hurts me not to be able to accept so many brilliant and talented guys who look for microsurgery training within my highly specialized University program, and who unfortunately do not have many options where to apply.
I dream of more and more training centers for microsurgeons in Mexico, Latin-America and the rest of the world.
How difficult it is to accept those you consider the best candidates and leave out very valuable people with the impetus to excel. Sometimes it is harder to refuse a good candidate than to accept the one you think will be a great microsurgeon in his/her homeland.
I dream of being able to help all the people who seek to improve themselves and are trying to go one step further than the average plastic reconstructive surgeon!!!
I dream of continuing to be useful in the formation of so many enthusiastic people, to whom I envy the wonders that are to come and the great future that awaits them.
Ultimately, I am not doing something else than corresponding to the opportunity I had to be trained by great mentors in my own country and abroad, and give my passion and love for the teaching of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Furthermore, I yearn with all my strength to continue learning from all of you!!!
