The JETRO KL Team flew over to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and conducted our first ever B2B Networking Event in Kota Kinabalu!
We introduced a variety of Japanese ingredients such as engawa, oysters, buri, saba, hotate, mentaiko, and somen, all prepared in an innovative fusion of Western, Chinese, and Japanese cuisines. Who would have thought saba can go on pizza? ๐๐
The event was a great success, and we hope to discover more and strengthen the relationship with restaurants and importers in Sabah and Sarawak!
If you're an importer in Sabah and Sarawak looking to explore Japanese products, or a restaurant looking to use Japanese ingredients, please do not hesitate to contact us here via Whatsapp, or e-mail us, and we will gladly support you! ๐ค๐

Last month, the JETRO KL Team organized a Japanese Wagyu Cutting Seminar - showcasing the versatility of wagyu other than the popular loin cuts and sharing knowledge on how to cut these secondary cuts.
The secondary cuts showcased included tri-tip, rump and flank steak. A master chef from Japan, Mr. Kazuo Eguchi, who has more than 45 years of experience, came all the way to Malaysia and taught us how to prepare these secondary cuts! Then, Master Chef Masashi from Potager prepared and served the cuts as steaks. The taste was absolutely divine! ๐
Who knew Japanese wagyu could be prepared in so many varieties and techniques? It was a great learning experience for sure.
The event was a great success, and we hope to see more promotions of Japanese wagyu - both the primary and secondary cuts - in the future!๐ฅฉโจ

ใ๐๐๐ญ'๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ค!ใHamachi Carpaccio & Hamachi Ochazuke ๐
The young yellowtail, or in Japanese, pronounced as "Hamachi", is a fish commonly consumed in Japanese households. The name "Hamachi" usually refers to farmed fish, with harvests going up to 141,000 tons.
The Hamachi is rich in high quality proteins and fats, as well as abundant amounts of Vitamin E, B, D, and taurine. These nutrients can help improve blood flow, and stimulate the brain.
Even with simple seasoning, the Hamachi is a delicacy when cooked in a variety of ways, such as salt-grilling, teriyaki, miso-marinade and shabu shabu.
If you're looking for a way to enjoy the fish at home but don't know where to start, Ms. Racheal has made two great dishes using Hamachi, which are Hamachi Carpaccio and Hamachi Ochazuke! Both recipes can be found in her video, so do check it out!
Have a taste of the Japanese Hamachi and let us know what you think about the two dishes! We're looking forward to all your delicious photos~
Made two family favourites today โ Hamachi Carpaccio for that fresh, buttery bite, and Hamachi Ochazuke for warm, soothing comfort ๐ต๐
