🇩🇪🇲🇾 Against a backdrop of shifting global trade dynamics and growing needs for supply chain resilience, the visit of Director-General for Geoeconomics in the Federal Foreign Office Oliver Rentschler to Malaysia reaffirms both countries’ commitment to a forward-looking partnership grounded in a shared committment to the rules-based international order and in joint economic interests.
The visit included calls on Deputy Finance Minister YB Liew Chin Tong and high-level engagements with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and German businesses representatives as well as key economic experts reflecting the breadth and depth of the Germany-Malaysia relationship across trade, investment, sustainability, and economic policy.

Welcome to Team Germany in Malaysia, dear GIZ colleagues!
It was great to get an update on the extensive activities of GIZ, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, in Malaysia.
Dr. Timo Menniken, Country Director of GIZ Malaysia, and his dedicated team outlined their ongoing projects in the fields of sustainable economic development, integrated & human security, as well as environment and climate action.
In particular, GIZ is working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), on bolstering Malaysia’s climate resilience through the National Adaptation Plan and enhancing coastal protection in the Coral Triangle, supported by funding from BMUKN and the GCF.
is jointly committed to deepening the long-standing cooperation between Germany and Malaysia. 🇩🇪🤝🇲🇾

From Germany to Malaysia by bicycle! 🚲 🚲 🌍 🌏
We welcomed two particularly sporty and tenacious visitors in Kuala Lumpur over the Easter weekend.
Brothers Caspar and Ferdinand von Moltke () had many tales to tell from their incredible 11 month long journey, especially on their beautiful personal encounters along the way, from the Balkans, to Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Laos, and Thailand.
The stopover in KL was particularly meaningful to the pair as Caspar was born here. ❤️ 🇲🇾
Their next and final stop: Singapore. Gute Fahrt!
