Jadi, apakah peranan anda?

The Central Forest Spine initiative has recognised a range of community-based activities essential to its goal of revitalising forests and establishing sustainable livelihoods.

The recent increased allocation by the Government for the Orang Asli under Budget 2024 of RM333 million, up from RM305 million in 2023, marks a committed and concerted effort to improve the livelihood of the indigenous communities.

These activities encompass honey harvesting and beeswax production, the operation of tree seedling nurseries, the management of fly fishing and fish sanctuaries, and the Hornbill Stewardship Programme.

Furthermore, workshops on hiking, trekking, and nature guiding offer community members opportunities to connect with and explore their natural environment.

The Improving Connectivity in the Central Forest Spine Landscape Project (IC-CFS) was established in 2014 to support the Central Forest Spine Master Plan.

This project aims to achieve three primary objectives:
🌱 Enhance forest connectivity and intensify law enforcement against wildlife and forestry crimes
🌱 Strengthen land management planning
🌱 Identify sustainable financing mechanisms

To date, a total of 32,783 hectares of state land in Perak, Pahang, and Johor has been identified and gazetted as Permanent Reserved Forest. Notably, 21% of the indigenous community actively participates in livelihood projects within the Belom-Temenggor areas of Perak. As part of our commitment to effective management, we have successfully implemented a SMART-based patrolling system.

We take immense pride in highlighting the accomplishments of our initiatives.

that the Southeast Asia region loses 1.2% of its forest each year?

Factors such as rapid agricultural expansion, infrastructure development, illegal logging and mining activities contribute significantly to this issue.

At the same time, increased poaching and illegal wildlife trade has also resulted in significant loss of biodiversity. The deforestation and poaching activities have also contributed to fragmentation in forest landscapes posing threats to wildlife, communities, and the overall forest biodiversity.

On the local scale, these issues are being addressed through the establishment of the Central Forest Spine Project since 2010.
