In a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Masoud Pezheshkian stated ‘’The tragedies being committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza are unacceptable to any free person, and I hope that Islamic countries will prevent the continuation of these crimes in Gaza through active diplomacy and diplomatic pressure and will deal with it with coherence, unity, and responsibility. The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always defended the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people, and other Islamic countries should also adopt a stronger and more active stance to support the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza; a collective effort to confront the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza will be a solution.’’
Referring to the 12-day war imposed by the Zionist regime against our country, Pezhshkian stated: "Our sin is that we defend the oppressed people of Palestine and their human rights and we hate the oppression and tyranny that is being inflicted on these oppressed people; the arrogant powers of the world consider this a sin and that is why they are pressuring us."
In another part of the conversation, the President called for expanding cooperation with Malaysia and strengthening interactions in all areas between the two countries.
The Malaysian Prime Minister also condemned the Israeli crimes in Gaza in this telephone conversation and stated: "The Malaysian government has issued a strong statement against the Israeli crimes in Gaza and extensive diplomatic efforts are underway to stop the genocide in Gaza; we hope that with the cooperation and assistance of other Islamic countries, we can stop these crimes."
Anwar Ibrahim also emphasized the special attention of his government to continuing cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields, saying that the Malaysian government and people have special respect for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
