Upskilling Ireland’s workforce has been an important part of our country’s economic success. We were glad to welcome InnoGlobal to Malaysia last week, an Irish institute who offer opportunities to build workforce capacity, particularly in the advanced manufacturing sector.

As part of their visit, Ambassador Orla Tunney facilitated insightful exchanges with key stakeholders from higher education as well as the manufacturing industry on Irish and Malaysian contexts, highlighting the value of a competitive and resilient workforce in continued economic growth.

Did you know Ireland is also known as the land of a hundred thousand welcomes, thanks to our reputation for warm hospitality and friendliness ☘️🤗

Labhair Gaeilge #️⃣7️⃣ is “Céad Míle Fáilte” meaning “a hundred thousand welcomes”, a common greeting to visitors in 🇮🇪

For a shortcut you can also say “Fáilte” meaning welcome 🤝

It’s always a pleasure to connect with Trinity College Dublin during visits to Malaysia.

Exciting to learn of their engagement with Malaysians exploring study in TCD later this year across a range of disciplines - a prime destination for alumni outcomes and employability, with new state of the art facilities in its famous city centre campus 👏🇮🇪

One of the most well established and personal connections between Ireland and Malaysia comes through the Assunta school.

It was fitting during the week of St Patrick’s Day celebrations that the Embassy, led by Ambassador Orla Tunney, met with representatives from the school’s current administration, its Board of Governors and also the Alumni Committee.

We enjoyed exchanging on memories and reflections of Sr Enda, the Irish missionary who established the school in 1955, and the continued impact her ethos has today. The spirit of inclusion and encouragement has been integral in maintaining Assunta’s longstanding reputation as a powerhouse educational institution.
