The "broccoli trees" in Rawang, Malaysia, are actually 'Giam Kanching' trees (Hopea subalatea), a rare species found only in Malaysia. These trees are primarily located within the Kanching Forest Reserve in Selangor, with only about 400 trees left in the WORLD. Their distinctive appearance—tall, slender trunks topped with dense, rounded foliage—has earned them the nickname "broccoli trees." The Rawang Bypass, which cuts through the forest, was carefully designed to minimize environmental disruption and protect these endangered trees.
