NCCIM Engages on European Crisis Discussions with PMO & PPPK

Following a request from the Prime Minister’s Office Malaysia, the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia participated in a strategic discussion on the evolving crisis in Europe with the Crisis Management Task Force (PPPK) under the National Economic Action Council.

The meeting was chaired by Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, Chairman of PPPK, and attended by Mr Norhisam Hussain, Economic Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The NCCIM delegation comprised Datuk Dr. A.T. Kumararajah (Vice President, NCCIM), Mr. Norsyahrin Hamidon (President, DPPM), Mr. Gnanasambanthan (Secretary General, NCCIM), Datuk Yap Heng Or (Vice President, ACCCIM), and Mr. Callum Chen (Vice President, MICCI).

The session focused on assessing the impact of the European crisis on Malaysia’s economy and strengthening coordinated responses between government and industry stakeholders.

The 7th ASEAN–Korea Business Council General Meeting was successfully held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, bringing together prominent business leaders, council members, and key stakeholders from ASEAN and Korea to strengthen economic ties and advance regional cooperation.

The meeting served as an important platform for dialogue on enhancing trade, investment, and strategic collaboration between ASEAN member states and Korea. Discussions focused on leveraging the complementary strengths of both regions to drive sustainable economic growth and resilience amid evolving global challenges.

Representing the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), Ms. Christina Tee (Chairman of Malaysia-Korea Business Council) and Mr. Michael Chai participated in the meeting, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to supporting stronger ASEAN–Korea business relations and fostering greater private sector collaboration.
Following the meeting, Mr. Chai visited Hyundai Motor studio Seoul, where he gained insights into Korea’s advancements in automotive innovation, smart mobility solutions, and future mobility technologies. The visit further highlighted the potential for collaboration between ASEAN and Korean industries, particularly in the areas of automotive development and next-generation mobility.

Tuesday 10th March, a delegation from the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) paid a courtesy visit to YB Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Minister - Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). The delegation was led by President Dato’ Seri N. Gobalakrishnan accompanied by EXCO members.

During the meeting, NCCIM presented key issues and concerns affecting the Malaysian business community and exchanged views on strengthening Malaysia’s economic competitiveness. The discussion also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between MITI and NCCIM in advancing policies that support businesses and drive national economic growth.

The Minister welcomed the constructive engagement and proposed the organisation of focused engagement sessions with industry players to discuss specific sectors and areas of concern in greater depth.

NCCIM reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with MITI to ensure that the perspectives of the business community are effectively represented in shaping Malaysia’s economic and trade policies.

The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) hosted its Chinese New Year Dinner 2026 at Sunway Resort Hotel, bringing together distinguished leaders from the Malaysian business community to celebrate the Lunar New Year and strengthen inter-chamber ties.

National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) was represented by President, Dato’ Seri N. Gobalakrishnan,Mr. S. Gnanasambanthan (Secretary-General) Dato' Andrew(Deputy-Secretary General),Mr. Amir Hamzah, (Treasurer) Datuk A.T. Kumarajah (Vice President) ,Mr. Norsyahrin (President of DPMM), as well as Dato’ Nathan and Ms. Michelle from the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).

The evening provided an excellent platform for fellowship, cultural appreciation, and meaningful engagement among industry leaders, reflecting the spirit of unity and optimism for the year ahead.

The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) successfully hosted the NCCIM Durian Get-Together on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, at Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM), Bukit Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.

Organised as a social and cultural gathering, the event brought together representatives from foreign embassies, government agencies, the media, members of the NCCIM General Council, and constituent chambers, providing a relaxed platform for informal interaction, networking, and goodwill engagement. NCCIM was represented by its President, Dato Seri N.Gobalakrishnan, Vice Presidents Mr Norsyahrin bin Hamidon and Datuk Dr A.T. Kumararajah, Secretary-General Mr S. Gnanasambathan, Deputy Secretary-General Dato' Andrew Goh, and Exco members Dato' Tan Tian Meng and Dato' Hj Mazrol Nizam Bin Abdullah.

NCCIM extends its sincere appreciation to all guests and partners who attended and contributed to the success of this event.

The Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Arman Shakkaliev, accompanied by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, His Excellency Bulat Sugurbayev, officials from the Embassy, and representatives of Invest Kazakh, paid a visit to the NCCIM Office today morning 17 September 2025. They were warmly received by NCCIM Secretary General, Mr. Gnanasambanthan Supramanion, along with General Council members, Mr. Michael Chai and Mr. Dzahir Jamudin. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade relations, the development of the Malaysia–Kazakhstan Business Council, and other matters pertaining to trade and investment cooperation.
